<p>UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA RADIATION PROTECTION DIVISION TRAINING QUESTIONNAIRE</p><p>X- Ray Diffraction Training Tape “The Double Edged Sword”</p><p>This film was produced by the U.S. FDA’s Bureau of Radiological Health for the purpose of providing users of x-ray diffraction equipment with information on the potential exposure hazards from this equipment, and protective measures to follow to assure the safety of personnel.</p><p>The following is a series of basic questions which may be answered while you are viewing the tape or after the completion of viewing.</p><p>T F For each statement, check either T for true, or F for false.</p><p>1. __ __ Analytical x-ray users constitute 1.8% of x-ray users, but 76% of all radiation accidents occur in this group of users. </p><p>2. __ __ All x-ray diffraction equipment has been manufactures with shutter interlocks, warning lights and other protective devices.</p><p>3. __ __ Use of molybdenum targets will result in more intense scatter radiation.</p><p>4. __ __ Exposure to the primary beam of an x-ray diffraction unit for even short time periods can result in high radiation doses which may cause radiation burns of the skin and/or eye cataracts.</p><p>5. __ __ X-ray diffraction units have been used for years without evident radiation exposure problems, so there is no need for concern or caution when using them.</p><p>This questionnaire must be signed below and sent or delivered to: Radiation Protection Division W140 Boynton Health Service 410 Church Street S.E.
