Use finale, pro-tools other music programs to enhance work, Author of 2 books. 1 is self published, Ability to score music for band and orchestra, Ability to untap potential within young singers and musicians</p><p>Music Highlights </p><p> As an Artist in Residence I travel to elementary schools where I use music to teach themes. Themes include.. The Chronology of African American Music, Literacy, Be a Friend, Appreciate Who You Are, and Respect Others Who Are Different. I Work closely with all students and staff for 15 days. I develop various core groups including.. strings, dance, percussion and singing. We discuss musicality and life skills. We prepare for a culminating concert to be held in a large venue. A recording of all singers is produced. The art teacher assists students with designing CD cover and programs. This is a full scale project that promotes leadership, discipline, appreciation and talent. Students come away with an understanding of what it takes to have an adjusted attitude to accomplish a set goal. Performed concerts for 20 years involving thousands of students. Many have gone on to be singers and performers. </p><p> Currently the Music Director of Mt. Zion Baptist Church (35 years). Oversee 7 music entities of the church. Lead musician. Write all parts for other instruments. Choirs sing at various community functions. Manage budget for all groups.</p><p> Composer of over 150 songs. Author of Be A Friend, The Story of African American Music Through Words Pictures and Songs. Also, Spread My Wings, A Message in the Music. </p><p> Guest artist for many middle and high schools. (Work with choirs and orchestras) </p><p> Conduct music camp each year at Bethel Horizons in Dodgeville, WI (current)</p><p> Bass section leader for the National Gospel Music Workshop of America (sang on 10 recordings) (current)</p><p> Composed and scored 12 songs for Roarrr, a children’s play performed in the Madison area . www.roartheplay.com</p><p> Compose and score music for the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s “The Christmas Spectacular” (2005 to Present.) </p><p> Keyboard player with the American Jazz Express Combo and Big Band (20 years) (current) </p><p> Teach a 1 credit music course at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (current with 100 students)</p><p> Play for many community events, banquets, weddings and wedding receptions</p><p> Provide entertainment during Holiday tours at the Governor’s Mansion</p><p> National Mayors Convention (2002)</p><p> NAACP Banquets</p><p> Martin Luther King Commemorative Programs</p><p>. Also promoted 11 year old singer to be one of the featured soloist</p><p> Music Director for many local plays produced by the Childrens Theater of Madison (1980-1999) (Wiz, Cinderella, Babar etc.)</p><p> Background singer for RAPHAEL in Madrid Spain for 2 months (1999)</p><p> Lead choir tour in Freiburg, Germany and Paris France (1994) </p><p> Performed with or opened for various speakers and artists including…</p><p> o Yolanda Adams, The Winans, Michael Bolton, Bishop Desmond TuTu, Martin Luther King Sr., 5 Blind Boys of Alabama, Roscoe from Sesame Street, Al Sharpton, etc.</p><p> Founded the University of Wisconsin Student Gospel Choir in 1975.. (still functioning today)</p><p>Began playing piano at age 5. Choir director at age 13. Played drums in high school concert band.</p><p> Received Dane County Martin Luther King Award, Leisl Blockstein Award, Marvin Rabin Award and others for community service to both youth and adults. </p><p> Formed singing group to sing with Broadway actors for Lion King Promotion coming to Madison 5/2010. </p>
