While all other LiftMaster MyQ®-enabled residential openers require the additional purchase of an Internet Gateway device to permit connectivity, the new LiftMaster 8550W allows for a direct connection to the opener. The new LiftMaster 8550W replaces the LiftMaster 8550 Elite Series Residential Garage Door Opener. </p><p>Superior Features In addition to the new Wi-Fi feature, the new LiftMaster 8550W is powered by a highly efficient DC motor and comes standard with LiftMaster’s fully integrated Battery Backup system, which permits operation for up to 20 cycles in a 24-hour period when the power is out. </p><p>The LiftMaster 8550W is also outfitted with Security+ 2.0® technology, a superior, multi-frequency, narrow band radio system which provides greater radio range performance to automatically find the right frequency – either 310, 315, or 390 MHz – for each installation, every time. The radio system within the LiftMaster 8550W greatly reduces any source of interference and increases the range of the unit resulting in fewer callbacks. </p><p>Finally, the LiftMaster 8550W’s Timer-to-Close functionality allows users to set the time after which their garage door will automatically close, ensuring their door is never left open by accident.
