Working with the Cisco 7936 Conference Spider Phone

Using The MeetMe and Conferencing Feature with Cisco IP Phones

- The first thing the you should do is plug the phone into the network jack and plug in the power - The phone will take approx. 20 seconds or so until it is ready to use. When the screen shows the message “Press the Phone Key to get a dial tone”, the phone is ready to be used. - There are 2 different ways we can do a phone conference. They are using the Meetme and the Conference feature - The difference between the 2 are Meetme – The participant would call into a number initiated by the moderator (MY RECOMMENDED METHOD)

Conference – The moderator would call the participants.

- To use the Meetme feature, do the following: Before the conference, reserve a meetme number via Lotus Notes Create a new calendar entry. On the resources section, scroll down until you find the meetme numbers. They are 1801 – 1805. Reserve one of them numbers. If a number isn’t reserved, someone else may try to use that number for their conference. MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE OTHER PARTICIPANTS THE NUMBER.

With the number now reserved, we are ready to start the Meetme procedure. Being the moderator of the conference, you’ll want to dial into the number before anyone else does; otherwise the other participants will get a busy tone.

To start out, lift the phone off the hook. When you get a dial tone, press the Menu button.

The screen will change with some available options. Make sure the arrow is next to Call Functions and press the select button on the right side.

The 1st option is for Meetme. Press the select button

You should hear 2 beeps. After the second beep, dial the number that you reserved earlier in Lotus Notes. Once you dial in the number, 1801 for example, you will get dead air and may seem like the phone hung up, but it didn’t.

The phone and the number are now available for incoming calls. All the participants have to do is dial the meetme extension or if calling from off-campus, dial the 675-3331 x(Meetme extension)

After the meeting, just hang up the phone.

- To use the Conference feature:

The conference feature would be used if you, the moderator, were to call the participants.

To start this, call one of the participants like you normally would. When the person is connected, you may decide to call someone else to be included in the conversation. On the bottom of the screen you see the abbreviation “Confrn”. This stands for conference. You would press that button. When you press the button, you will hear the dial tone again, and the first person is put on hold. When you get the dial tone, you can then dial a new number.

Repeat these steps until all participants are in the conference. When all participants are in the conference, press the confrn button one last time and you should be able to start the conference.
