<p>Name ______Date ______6-_____</p><p>A New Sport for New Providence!?!</p><p>Background: Athletes across the world have grown tired of the same old sporting games. As a result, people from all countries have seen a growing trend in the creation of new sporting events, games and competitions.</p><p>New Providence High School would like to stay up-to-date with the latest trends. The High School would like to consider adding an extreme sport to their athletic program. As a result, Salt Brook students have been asked to conduct research on some of the newest sports being seen around the world. Students will use their research to create a presentation that will explain an extreme sport to the New Providence Board of Education, and attempt to persuade the High School to adopt this new sport. The Board will need to know the facts about different sports so they can make an informed decision about which sport would be suitable for the High School.</p><p>Your Task: Conduct research and write persuasive essay on an extreme sport. Your essay will have 5 paragraphs that explain factual information about the sport, and makes a clear argument why the sport you chose would be a great sport for the New Providence High School. </p><p>Steps: 1.) Conduct research on extreme sports. 2.) Select a sport that you feel comfortable in your ability to research thoroughly. 3.) Take notes on index cards. 4.) Prioritize your research. Identify 3 topics for development in your expository essay. 5.) Plan your essay writing. 6.) Write first draft. 7.) Find holes in research, and research some more. 8.) Revise draft. 9.) Edit draft. 10.) Type final copy. 11.) Develop Powerpoint presentation. Only one slide of images may be used for each paragraph. (No text will be included on powerpoint. Only 5 slides are permitted.) 12.)
