Appointments to Advisory Committee on Human Resources Development in the Financial Services

<p> Press release</p><p>Appointments to Advisory Committee on Human Resources Development in the Financial Services Sector Thursday, May 31, 2007</p><p>The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury has re-appointed Mr Ignatius Chan Tze-ching as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Human Resources Development in the Financial Services Sector (the FinMan Committee) for a term of two years with effect from tomorrow (June 1). </p><p>Mr Chan is a founding member of the FinMan Committee and has served as the Chairman since June 2005. </p><p>A Government spokesman said today (May 31) that being a veteran in the financial services industry with a strong commitment to promoting manpower development for the sector, Mr Chan had provided invaluable advice and leadership to the FinMan Committee in implementing initiatives for the training and nurturing of financial talent in Hong Kong. </p><p>"We are confident that with the continued support of Mr Chan and other members, the FinMan Committee will continue to play an important role in the strategic development of human resources for the financial services sector and contribute to the sustained development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre," the spokesman said.</p><p>Other members appointed to the FinMan Committee are Mr David Lui, Mr Clifford Chiu, Mr Ronald Kung, Mr Kevin Lam and Mr Kenneth Wong. All of them are experienced financial services practitioners. </p><p>The FinMan Committee also comprises representatives nominated by academic and training institutes; professional bodies and regulators.</p><p>"We are also grateful to the outgoing members, Mr Roger Luk and Mr Chan Wing- luk, who have respectively served on the committee for seven years and three years, for their support in their past years of services," the spokesman said.</p><p>The FinMan Committee is a non-statutory body established in June, 2000, to foster</p><p>1 better co-ordination of the efforts between the industry and academia on financial services manpower development.
