You Are Going to Write a Math Song/Poem

<p>You are going to write a math song/poem. You may work alone or in a group of 2 or 3 people (NO MORE THAN 3 – NO EXCEPTIONS!!).</p><p>Requirements: The main topic of the song/poem must be from one of these main concepts: 1) Slope-Intercept Form 2) Point-Slope Form 3) Standard Form 4) Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Song/poem must be school appropriate (No swearing). Song/poem must be original (No plagiarism) Song/poem must have at a title and at least 2 verses and 1 chorus. Song/poem lyrics MUST be typed with no grammatical errors. Extra Credit = Song must be recorded on a CD or as a file that will play on my computer. You can use background music (or beats) from any artist (Be sure to check that it plays and is of good quality before turning in. Failure to play will result in no extra credit). </p><p>This is what you will turn in: A copy of the song/poem lyrics If you choose to do the extra credit: A recording of you/group members singing the song/poem to music on a CD or an attachment that will play on my computer. </p><p>This is how you will be graded: Individual Participation in the song/poem (5 points) The math in the song/poem is accurate. (10 points) TYPED copy of the song/poem lyrics with title (2 points) Length of Song – At least 2 verses and 1 chorus (3 points) (If you choose a poem, at least 20 lines) Extra Credit: Create a video/record your song/poem. (20 points) </p><p>Alternative Assignment: </p><p>If you do not feel comfortable writing a song/poem this will be your assignment.</p><p>Write a paper (introduction, body, and conclusion) explaining: How to graph the line whose equation is 3x-7y=21 using the slope and y-intercept. Describe the steps you would take to complete the task. Once you found the slope and y-intercept, explain the steps you would do to graph the line.</p><p>The steps in the paper are accurate. (10 points) Typed copy of paper (2 points) 6 + 1 Traits Word Choice (3 points) Conventions (3 points) Organization (3 points)</p><p>Due Date: January 9, 2012. </p>
