<p> August, 2016 Dear Parent / Guardian and Fifth Grade Student,</p><p>I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Grade 5 at Shoemaker Elementary School. I am anticipating a fun-filled year of learning and exciting new experiences.</p><p>Students will be given a Shoemaker Assignment Book provided by the school to keep track of all homework, assignments, and school / home communications. They will be expected to use this agenda book, but I will not be requiring parents to sign daily. Also, I am asking students to bring the following items on the first day of school, Monday, August 29th:</p><p>1. one three-ring binder (two-inch)</p><p>2. six two-pocket folders WITHOUT brass fasteners (you know, the cheap ones!) – please place these folders INSIDE the three-ring binder listed in number 1 above, but do NOT label any subjects (name is OK)</p><p>3. one composition book (with the hard, marbled cover – be sure it is LINED, not grid paper ruled)</p><p>4. two ONE subject spiral-bound notebooks</p><p>5. ear buds to stay at school (can be the cheap ones from the dollar store) – please put these in a zip lock baggie with name clearly labeled</p><p>6. 2-3 dry erase markers (dark colors like blue or black) and an old (clean) SOCK</p><p>7. several sharpened pencils with erasers</p><p>8. an exciting book to read</p><p>9. a positive attitude and a sense of humor</p><p>OPTIONAL SUPPLIES: crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue, student scissors, and other small items of choice – PS: books should be covered (there are two), and Mrs. Ringer will be selling Book Sox during the August visitation. </p><p>Anyone needing assistance obtaining the above supplies, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school (610-965-1626).
