At Lilycroft all children in Year 5 go swimming once a week. The children will be taken to Bingley swimming pool by bus with members of our school staff. They will be taught to swim by fully qualified swimming instructors. The lessons will be taught in same gender groups, they will not be mixed.  Boys will go swimming on Monday’s</p><p> Girls will go swimming on Thursday’s</p><p>These lessons are free to you because school pays for them.</p><p>Your child will need:  A swimming costume: for girls only (white swimming costumes are not allowed)</p><p> Swimming trunks: for boys only (white swimming trunks are not allowed)</p><p> Swimming caps for girls</p><p> A towel</p><p> A coat and suitable footwear</p><p> Earrings and all jewellery must be removed for safety reasons</p><p> Deodorants and hair gels are not allowed.</p><p>Girls must wear a swimming cap in the pool. These can be bought from sports shops or online. They can also be bought from local swimming pools. Children can also buy them when they go to Bingley pool with the school. Like last year, children will go swimming over lunch time. Because of this, boys will have their lunch on Monday’s at 11:30 and girls will have their lunch at 11:45.</p><p>Swimming lessons are compulsory, children have to go. If your child has a medical problem you will need to bring a doctor’s note, otherwise your child will still go to their swimming lessons. Lessons will start on Monday 8th September 2014.
