SP1 1RZ Email:[email protected] Laverstock & Ford Parish Council</p><p>Incorporating Hampton Park & Old Sarum</p><p>3 Pilgrims Way, Laverstock, Salisbury, SP1 1RZ</p><p>PARISH COUNCIL GRANT SCHEME</p><p>Criteria for granting funds</p><p>The Parish Council operates a community grant scheme, with criteria as detailed below.</p><p>The aim is always to ensure that funds awarded are used to ensure the best use of the public funds and always in a way that benefits residents of the parish.</p><p>Each year the Council determines how much, in financial terms it will devote to Grants, these funds are limited but that should not deter groups, clubs and societies from applying for a grant.</p><p>The Council encourages applications from local community based, ‘not for profit’ or charitable organisations e.g. voluntary groups, societies, clubs (including new start-ups), sports clubs, youth clubs, playgroups, and Community Projects (collectively called applicants).</p><p>A grant offered by the Parish Council is made on the understanding that the applicant is entirely responsible for gaining all the necessary permissions and the granting of the money should not in any way be taken as authorisation by the Parish Council.</p><p>Criteria 1. Each application will be considered on its merit but the purpose of the grant must be in the interests of the Parish or Parish residents as defined by the boundaries of the Parish Council. 2. No grants will be awarded for commercial ventures or private gain. 3. Grants will not be made retrospectively. 4. Financial assistance will not be awarded to individuals (section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972). 5. The maximum amount payable for a single grant is normally £500 but grants in excess of this will be considered. 6. All grants will be paid by cheque or bank transfer so all recipients must have a bank account.</p><p>Assessment The Parish Council will assess suitability based on: a. How well the grant meets the needs of the community and whether it provides positive benefit for residents. b. How effectively the grant will be used e.g. has the best deal been sought for the purchase of equipment. c. The costs are appropriate and realistic. d. Full disclosure of all other grants applied for. e. The funds could not be raised from another more appropriate source? Laverstock & Ford Parish Council f. Application Process Applications should be made in writing to the Parish Clerk and will be considered at a Parish Council meeting. Although attendance by the requestor is not required it is advised.</p><p>Monitoring and Evaluation The Parish Council will expect an update on the expenditure of the monies and the benefits delivered at an appropriate point following the approval of the grant. The level of reporting detail expected will be commensurate with the size of the grant.</p><p>Approved June 2016 Review Date June 2018</p><p>Laverstock & Ford Parish Council</p>
