<p> Executive Committee Meeting 24 March 2014 MINUTES </p><p>Attendance: Tammy Maldonado, Diana Oliveras, David Kassoy, Chris Lowry, Zdenka Smith and JoAnn Joselyn. Guest - David Smith. Absent were PJ Bennett, and Carol Kearns. The meeting, held in Gold A1B20, convened at 3 p.m. </p><p>The next Exec. Comm. Meeting will be Monday April 7 at 3 p.m. in Gold A1B20.</p><p>Web page  David Smith brought up the web pages (home and Café Sci) for our edits.  Home web address is http://www.colorado.edu/engineering/ECE/sigmaxi/sigmaxi.html  Jo Ann was asked to send him the By-laws for posting on the site. Past presidents are already posted.  David’s e-mail is [email protected]</p><p>Café Sci  11 March –Ken Touryan, NREL, “Will abundant natural gas from fracking stunt the growth of renewable technologies?”  April – no Café in order to promote the Awards Reception  13 May - Tor Wager on pain management – the Outlook Hotel will be OK for hosting the May Café.</p><p>Undergraduate Research Awards Both nominations received were accepted as awardees. Tammy will collect the forms to nominate them for Sigma Xi Associate membership (cost is $50 = $30 dues+$20 initiation fee). Awardees are  Christopher James Brazell  Jelena Notaros</p><p>April Awards Reception  A draft of the Awards event program was reviewed at the March meeting. There are several ‘holes’ to fill  JoAnn ordered and received 10 graduation cords – the cost was $99.</p><p>Miscellaneous  Tammy, Carol and Diana met with Mary Kraus, Associate Dean of Natural Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences (and Chair of the Geology Dept.) She did not see a way to affiliate with CU and her best recommendation was to meet with the Chairs of the Natural Sciences on 1 April to discuss department liaisons and Sigma Xi participation.  No field trips are pending at present  David Kassoy is slated to be the ‘System’ President of the Retired Faculty Association. He noted there are 3 sub-associations: Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Anchutz.
