Creating with Brushes and Buckets: Painting Landscapes and Much, Much More

Creating with Brushes and Buckets: Painting Landscapes and Much, Much More Using Setacolor paint from Pēbēo, we will explore the many wonderful painting and dying techniques that this paint can produce! We will discover all of their wonderful effects using a variety of tools and methods! In the second half of the class, we will focus our efforts on creating the most beautiful watercolor-like mountain and landscapes - no painting experience necessary! Create it using your own imagination or from a picture of your vacation!

Supply List Fabric - White 100% Cotton It is extremely important that you get finely woven cotton. Regular muslins will make the paint seep because of the loosely woven fibers. I prefer to use White Pimatex Cotton from Kaufman. You can also use any fabric that has the letters "PFD" after it (prepared for dyeing). Kona Cotton is also good. You will need approximately 4 yards cut into 16 fat quarters. You can bring more or less, depending on how fast you can create! Call or email if you have any questions. I will also bring fabric to sell (Pimatex @ $8.00/yard) You do not need to wash it – we wet each piece. If you really need to wash it, do not worry about ironing it. Paint All the paint you need is provided for you for the additional supply fee of $ 15.00. Included with this fee is coarse sea salt to produce a variety of effects and boards on which to paint. Applicators Brushes - foam brushes you can get in any hardware store in a variety of sizes, assorted brushes with natural bristles - I like "hake" brushes the best - they hold a lot of paint. (www.wilde-ideas.com) I bring plenty to share if you can’t find any. Sponges - large and small sea sponges to add different effects (for rocks, and other textures) Other Stuff  Picture - either professional or amateur of a landscape, seascape or mountainscape. Please know that this will be a watercolor version of the picture. You will not be able to paint fine details with our paints. You may add them through appliqué, embellishment or your own fabric paints.  Spray bottle (this is used to wet your fabric, not spray on the paint)  Painter’s plastic – about 5-10 pieces the size of fat quarters  Small containers to hold paint (plastic microwave dinner plates, bowls, etc.) – make sure that your brushes can fit in them!  Paper towels or old cloths  Gloves & apron (or wear old clothes!)  Bucket (not a small child size), more of a “cleaning” type bucket  I provide you with Coarse sea salt that makes the cool effects, but if you have other salt that you would like to try, please bring it!!   Cheesecloth, lace (anything you can lay flat to leave an impression). The craft stores now sell foam shapes. I bring an assortment for you to try!  Long pins (to hold it down on the windy days!)  Sense of adventure and humor! We’re gonna have a GREAT time!

[email protected] www.piecefulquilter.com 856.579.7042 (Go to the website – Workshops/Lectures to see more samples of what we’ll do!)
