<p> Coalfields Community Challenge Dragons’ Den Event 2014 </p><p>Background</p><p>The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is running a Dragons’ Den event to celebrate Global Enterprise Week 2014. The event will be held at The Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie on Fri 21st November 2014, 11am- 3pm. Successful participants will receive an award of up to £3,000 and three months business development support to enable them to develop and deliver their idea.</p><p>Introduction</p><p>Participation in the event will offer learning and networking opportunities, as coalfields social entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to see their fellow participants make their pitches. Each entrant will need to prepare and deliver a pitch to the Dragons which will include:  the organisation’s activities and unique selling points  how the project benefits coalfield areas  what an award will be used for  how the project will improve the viability of the enterprise</p><p>The pitch will be for a maximum of 5 minutes, after which the Dragons will have the opportunity to ask questions. Up to 2 members of each enterprise can deliver the pitch. </p><p>Awards</p><p>Awards of up to £3,000 and 3 months business development support will be available to the winning entrants. If project costs will exceed this the balance of funding must be in already in place. The Dragons reserve the right to only part fund projects, or award additional funds in exceptional circumstances.</p><p>Eligibility</p><p>Organisations must:  be constituted as a charity or not for profit company  have a bank account  provide accounts (or cash flow projection if new)  provide quotes for items exceeding £500  have match funding in place where project costs will exceed £3,000  deliver their project in one or more eligible coalfield wards (see accompanying list)</p><p>If you would like to check your project’s eligibility, discuss your project, apply for an Expression of Interest form or have any other questions, contact David Wright on 01259 272127 or at [email protected]. We cannot accept applications from:  individuals  private businesses  statutory bodies  national organisations  organisations with a total unrestricted income exceeding £100kpa  organisations unable to demonstrate adequate financial control or with inadequate management systems</p><p>Or from projects:  that do not meet CRT charitable objectives  which do not benefit coalfield communities  whose main purpose is the promotion of religious beliefs  which are a statutory responsibility</p><p>Costs we cannot fund:  overseas travel costs and expenses  animal welfare activities  general appeals  deficit or retrospective costs  school fees  medical or research equipment  bank or audit charges  depreciation and amortisation  recoverable VAT</p><p>Please note this list is not exhaustive, you are strongly advised to check that your project is eligible before completing an Expression of Interest form.
