<p> Lambert-16</p><p>CURRENT EVENTS</p><p>Each month biology students will be required to submit a current events article. This topic may be assigned or you may choose any topic in the science discipline. Students may use magazines, newspapers or scientific journals to find an article. All articles must be within the current school year.</p><p>REQURIEMENTS FOR THE ARTICLE:</p><p> The article must be a minimum of one page long.  The article must be from the current school year.  The article must be related to science.  The article must be stapled to the back of your summary / reaction.  This assignment is due by the last day (that you have class) of each month. </p><p>FORMAT FOR THE PAPER Use APA format An example of this format is available on your web page. The final paper submitted must include the following:</p><p>1. Coversheet:  A header - on the top left side a running head is used for all pages. This is a shortened article title in is all CAPITALIZED. Ex. GMO SAFETY  Page number - on the top of right side, a page number is needed on all pages. The title page is the first page.  The following information is then centered on the title page:</p><p>The Title Of The Article Your name Brandywine Height High School Teacher’s name Class and period Date</p><p>2. The 2 nd page:</p><p> o Header - (shortened name of article on left, page number on right side)</p><p> o Title of the Article - on the top of the page, centered of paper</p><p> o Summary - (centered under the title). The text of the summary is left justified. Only the word Summary is centered. Using your own words, summarize the article you have read. Plagiarism of any type will result in no credit and disciplinary action. Lambert-16</p><p> o Reaction - (centered on the page following your summary) Write a reaction to the article that you just read. The text of the reaction section is left justified. Your reaction must be at least a paragraph response to the article you read. This should include a minimum of why you like or dislike the article, what interested you and how the article / topic impacts our society.</p><p> o Bibliography – APA format</p><p>This assignment is due in the BEGINNING OF CLASS. You have a month to complete this assignment. You may turn this assignment in early. If you know you will be absent on the day it is due, you need to turn in your assignment prior to your absence.</p><p>GRADING RUBRICS:</p><p> Use of MLA format – 5 points  Summary of article – 20 points  Reaction to article – 10 points</p><p>If you do not attach the article you will not get credit for the assignment. If you forget to include a bibliography, 5 points will be deducted from your grade.</p>
