<p>Sample -Word Study Lesson Plan / Weekly Routine (5 Days)</p><p>Day 1 – Introduce the Sort 1. Teacher introduces the sort with students and discuss. 2. Students cut apart their sort and practice with a partner. 3. Homework – Write sort in their word study notebooks. </p><p>Day 2 – Sort and Check 1. Students practice sort individually and with a partner. 2. Timed speed sort w/ a partner. Record times in Word Study Notebooks. 3. Homework – Write sentences with 2 words from each contrast/column. </p><p>Day 3 – Reflect / Compare and Declare 1. Word Hunt / Record words in Word Study Notebooks 2. Teacher explains / models Game/Activity for the sort 3. Homework – Write sentences with 2 additional words from each contrast / column. Practice sort. </p><p>Day 4 – Extend 1. No Peeking Writing Sort (practice test w/ partner) 2. Students play Game / Activity for the sort. 3. Homework – Practice speed sort w/ an adult – 3 times and record times</p><p>Day 5 – Sort & Check / Reflect / Assess 1. Beat the Teacher Sort 2. Write a summary for the sort in Word Study Notebooks. 3. Spelling Test (Homework – Write sentences with any missed words.)</p>
