<p>Studio Art II </p><p>Studio Art II SYLLABUS Instructor: Ms Wilkinson [email protected]</p><p>Class philosophy: This is a studio art class consisting of hands on production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics. We will us a variety of materials and media to create final artworks. The student will be expected to communicate both verbally and in written form. The entire art period will be used as an opportunity to create and learn.</p><p>Class Objectives:  Students will understand and demonstrate proficiency in all visual art requirements for Hinds County Schools.  Students will identify, comprehend, and apply the elements and principles of design which include: Elements Principles Line Movement/repetition Shape Balance Color Variety Value Contrast Texture Unity Space Emphasis Form Proportion Pattern Unity  Students will critique artwork using the four steps art criticism model 1. Description 2. Analysis 3. Interpretation 4. Evaluation  Students will produce art using a variety of media and techniques  Students will learn art history across various cultures  Students will use problem solving and critical thinking skills in all levels of the creative process. Required Materials: $10 supply fee for Sketchbook( checks are a large part of your grade.) , acrylic paint, watercolor, oil and chalk pastel, markers, printmaking materials, etc… Materials you might want to have on your own:</p><p>A large shirt or apron to protect clothes, plastic gloves if you hate messes, your own pencils and/or markers if you don’t like to share. Studio Art II </p><p>Grading: *Quizzes/Tests ____ * Class Participation ____ *Sketchbook check ____ *bell work ____ * Projects ____ *Final Exam ____ written</p><p>The Sketchbook is the central component of this class. The sketchbook serves as the textbook for this class. Each student is required to organize the sketchbook according to class guidelines. Students are responsible for all projects and notes that build up the sketchbook this semester. There are very specific guidelines and deadlines that are part of the grading system for the class. DO NOT TAKE THE SKETCHBOOK HOME. Because it is such an important part of the grading for this class, I do not want to risk a lost sketchbook.</p><p>Deadlines are a big part of this class! Make sure you use your time wisely.</p><p>YOU are responsible for all makeup work and for completing it in the appropriate time frame. Studio Art II </p>
