Introductions All Welcome to Beth, The interview committee was pleased that Beth was the one selected. Welcome from Todd. </p><p>3. Approval of Minutes of October 23 meeting (1:10) All Moved: Approve with Ostermiller’s edits, Trejo De Dios, approved</p><p>6. Public Comments (1:15) None</p><p>7. Oregon Heritage Grant Approval Kuri Gill Kuri gave summary of the grant process. Eric – Thanks to Kuri, she put together a good committee, he encourages commissioners to do it. The applications were quite good. Many were tied into HB2845 concerning ethnic studies and broadened the scope of social studies. It tied into the discussion with the Oregon Trial celebration. Some other organizations have diversity and inclusion policies they are implementing. The commission should consider incorporating such a policy for the commission. Jerry concurs with looking into this idea. Todd: Looking back on the Oregon Trail celebration discussion, really wrestled with the discussion, and pleased with the results. Jerry – Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center, was not funded, what was the reasoning for it? Eric noted that the committee wrestled with this project, the application was for funding some projects that are already in the works, so questions as to whether it would qualify since a lot would be completed. It seems more like an operating grant request than a project, so the work was not clear. Matias – Do we recommend religious organizations develop a separate 501(c)3? Kuri noted that if a significant part of their work is for a public benefit, then yes.</p><p>1 Moved: Martin, approve all grants recommended for funding except for the High Desert Museum, second Ferguson. Approved. Moved: Martin, approve the recommended grant to the High Desert Museum, seconded Trejo De Dios, Ferguson abstained. Approved</p><p>8. Reports by Commissioners (1:35) Ostermiller – no report. Recipient of the grant is Astoria Public Library, is it OK to give them a thumbs up. Martin – nothing Ferguson – nothing Matias – nothing, welcome to Beth, looking forward to meeting her in person. Kepple – Spent the night in Independence and he saw the historic panels funded by OHC grants, a great project he was happy to see. </p><p>9.
