These conferences provide you with an opportunity to establish an open line of communication and develop a relationship with each of your student’s teachers. During this time you will learn about your student’s classroom performance, have an opportunity to ask questions, and share any thoughts or concerns you may have.</p><p>Parent-Teacher Conferences are October 18th and 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Conferences are scheduled in 10 minute time-blocks. You can schedule conferences for your student(s) at https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Worthingway_Middle_School. </p><p>Cards Inc. Spirit Wear:</p><p>CARDS Inc. is excited to bring you TWHS spirit wear! There is a wide variety of items to choose from to show your support for TWHS: We have t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, sweatpants and even a house flag! All items are available for purchase online and will be Delivered to your house. The store opens Friday, September 30th and will close Sunday, October 16th. Items will be delivered to you the first week in November. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting. You will learn about this service-oriented club and how we will work together to develop leadership skills as we serve our school and community. (Advisors: McKinney, Wilson, Cready)</p><p>Coat Drive: It’s going to be cold for many Worthington kids, so it’s time to clean out your closet and donate last year’s winter coat to this year’s coat drive!</p><p>Each year, the Worthington Saint Vincent DePaul Society and Worthington Schools work together to collect gently used coats and winter items for our Worthington children in need. In 2015, the SVdP was able to provide 410 warm coats, 130 hoodies and 450 hats, gloves, scarves and 35 pair of boots to the children and families in need right here in our own Worthington community.</p><p>We are collecting any children and adult size coats. We are also collecting hats, gloves, scarves and boots. We will be distributing these winter items in early November, so please bring your donations to the school coat collection box outside the school office by no later than October 30th. Many Worthington students and families will have a much warmer winter with your help. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity. </p><p>Books and Bagels: Our next Books and Bagels book club meeting will take place on October 31st at 8:00am in the library. The book selection for this meeting is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Any interested students should read the story and join us for a lively discussion and delicious treats!</p><p>The Worthingway Arts Program presents : Actor's Boot Camp Build your acting skills. Drill professional audition techniques. Challenge yourself to become a better performer. Create memorable characters. Spend an intense week playing theatre games and working on scenes and monologues with Worthingway Arts Program director extraordinaire Jeff Horst. This boot camp will include expert training to prepare you to audition for Worthingway's spring production of Cinderella.</p><p>The Actor's Boot Camp runs Tuesday through Friday, 4 pm – 6 pm, from November 1st - November 4th. Register online at waponline.org under the Actor’s Boot Camp page.</p><p>Worthingway Kroger Community Rewards Program: The Kroger Community Rewards Program gives back to schools. If you are interested in supporting Worthingway through the Kroger Community Rewards Program, please see the instructions below: - If this is your first time signing up: 1. You will be enrolled through April 30th 2017. </p><p>If you are have an issue with your password and or email address, call 1-800- KROGERS, press 5 for customer service, press 5 to speak to a customer service representative.</p><p>Yearbooks: Yearbooks are $25.00 and forms can be picked up in Ms. Wilson or Ms. Beasley's classrooms. Families may also purchase a yearbook online at jostensyearbooks.com.</p><p>Lost and Found: Parents we have accumulated a lot of clothing in the lost and found by the gym. Please have your child check the lost and found table within the next week and consider adding your child’s name to their notebooks, calculators, jackets and lunch boxes. </p><p>Classroom Updates: Mrs. Freeman’s Class (Math): Mrs. Freeman will be returning from maternity leave! You can contact her at [email protected] or meet her at Thursday night conferences in room 33 from 4:15-5:45!</p><p>Sra. Newcomb’s Class (Spanish): Sra. Newcomb's 1a classes are entering the world of calendar and time. Students will have short vocabulary checks every day and should be preparing for them nightly. Days of the week, months of the year, and other calendar terms should be practiced frequently.</p><p>Sra. Newcomb's 1b classes are starting the week with a taste of Mexico and then quickly transitioning into Unit 6- Free Time! Students will get new vocabulary and begin to talk about going places and making plans to go places. There will be "caja" quizzes once the new vocabulary has been shared.</p><p>Mr. Reed’s Class (Choir): 7th grade choir students are preparing music for our Veterans' day assembly and Holiday concert. They are learning to project their singing voices, training their ears to hear if notes are in tune and learning how to read music. </p><p>8th grade choir students are polishing three challenging pieces of music in preparation for the 11th Annual 8th Grade District Choral Festival on October 24th from 7:30pm-8:30 pm. This wonderful festival, held at Worthington Christian Church (8145 North High St.) celebrates the accomplishments of all the 8th grade choirs in the district and features special performances from the high school choirs. All are welcome and admission is free. </p><p>Miss Speicher’s Class (Social Studies): Miss Speicher's 8th Grade Social Studies: In social studies class, we are starting to examine political ideology and the electoral college in anticipation of the upcoming national election.</p><p>Ms. Wedell’s Class (Orchestra) The 7th and 8th grade Worthingway Orchestra will combine with Kilbourne Middle School orchestra students to present their first concert on Thursday, November 3, at 7:30pm at Thomas Worthington High School. The high school orchestras will also be performing.
