<p> Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast Committees and What They Do 2006-2007</p><p>CLUB SERVICE, Monica Schneider, Board Member Responsible Sergeant-At-Arms Mike Trinen (Chair); Marc Teets; Herb McCulla A committee to make sure the meeting runs smoothly; to include AV equipment, microphones, and make sure the speaker is will taken care of. Assign greeters, and coordinate the new games we will play. CICO management Neil Morris; Phil Murphy Keep member names and emails up to date for group distribution Directory Bob Loosley; Phil Murphy; Mahin Shahmardian Update and produce a new directory and make the membership aware of changes to the roster Club History Mildred Johnson; Tom Welsh Keeps pertinent historical records of club activities, members, photographs; etc. </p><p>1 COMMUNITY SERVICE, Mike Griffith Board member responsible</p><p>Hurricane/Disaster Book Distribution – Mark Hoog; Herb McCulla; Aaron Polzin; Tom Welsh Develop project to collect children’s books for eventual distribution to disaster areas in SE United States Gustav Swanson Clean-Up Ron Chappell; CHAIR Coordinate clean-up dates with city. Muster the troops for the clean-up days. Secret Santa Charlie Morris Chair; Gary Turner Coordinate with nonprofits and the club members for sign-up, collection, and distribution of gifts for needy families in Fort Collins. Perhaps stage a party for needy kids, instead of just depositing for distribution. Meals On Wheels Steve Eberhardt, Chair Sign-up members for weekly tasks. Follow-up reminders for each weeks assignments. Food Bank Phil Murphy, CHAIR, Get members to sign up for the once per month hands on volunteer project. Remind members and coordinate with Food Bank. Girl Scout Clean-up Coordinate with Kay Stevens for new dates with sufficient notice to club members for good participation. Orchestrate activities, lunch, tools, etc. Children’s Garden at Spring Creek John Carroll; Ken Stone Work with the city to find some projects the club can participate in while waiting for completion of gardens. Consider water fountain/plaque placement in garden for recognition of clubs and Four-Way Test. This is also a quad club project and might require some work with other club’s contacts when work or activities commence. Laurel School Lee Varra-Nelson CHAIR, Kay Stevens, Marc Teets,; Ken Stone Continue reading program with Abbie Schnorr. Maintain sign-up responsibilities for readers. Implement a new strategy to become more involved and visible to the students at Laurel School. Explore the possibilities of sponsorship of new programs such as all school or primary grade assemblies, field trips, after school workshops, etc.. including budget and time commitments. Continue to work with AR reading store (and its sponsor) with funding if necessary, as well as business leadership opportunities with upper grade students and student council. Centennial High School John Carroll, chair, Tracy Mead; Tom Welsh; Curt Palin Implement a new, more obvious presence with the student population, by working with Bryan Maddox. Consider more funding and ways in which the students can contribute by working on club projects. Consider help and support for their fundraising efforts. Continue Scholarship opportunities with more involvement from the recipients with the club. Implement a follow-up model for future scholars. Introduce Centennial students to Interact club. New Projects and Grants – Tom Welsh; Carrie Holmes; Roger Bailey; Mark Orr; Charlie Morris; Kay Stevens; Curt Palin; Catherine Costlow</p><p>2 INTERNATIONAL SERVICE, Wilton Lyles, Board member responsible</p><p>Group Study Exchange (Quad Club) Tracy Mead, CHAIR; Mark Korb; Curt Palin Coordinate with district chairperson and other clubs’ chairs on timing, activities, transfers, housing, etc. of incoming team members and leader from another country. Coordinate with dist. Chair and other clubs’ chairs on selection of team leader (Rotarian) and team members from Fort Collins. Youth Exchange/Summer Exchange - Joan Heiman Chair; John Hintzman; Curt Palin Coordinate with district chairperson on receiving and sending exchange students sponsored by our club. Arrange for applications and interviews for out-going students. Make arrangements for pick-up of in-coming student and initial orientation. Find host families and make pleas for help to make the student feel welcome and at home. Assign a counselor to each exchange student (both out- going and in-coming) who will have weekly contact with student to help with any issues that arise, make sure finances are in order and be a constant liaison with the host families and the YEC and have a confidant if necessary. Track progress of student and report to the board monthly on needs of student, if any. World Community Service Wilton Lyles, CHAIR, Patrick Bols; Curt Palin, Tracy Mead, Raju Jairam, Larry Salmen, Mark Korb, Krishna Murthy, Charlie Peterson, Dick Griffith, John Trewartha; John Carroll; Terry Podmore Define opportunities to be taken to the board for direction in receiving matching grants, simplified grants, using district designated funds and generally working with TRF to fund international projects. CSU Business School-International Connection Larry Salmen CHAIR To help define the role the club can play in helping to implement an International entrepreneur/internship program with the business school. Contact with Paul Hudnut, John Grant, and Dean Ajay Menon of the CSU Business School Tepic, Mexico, Susan Peterson; Curt Palin Chair, Tracy Mead; John Carroll Continue our relationship with the Tepic Nayarit club and find ways in which we can define new goals and opportunities in helping the migrant sugar cane and tobacco workers and their children. Work on simplified grants, DDF, and matching grants and perhaps make another fact finding trip before identifying a long term, hands on project both clubs can become involved in ( perhaps a water project) and establish a lasting relationship with the Indians and the Tepic Rotarians. Work closely with the World Community Service committee for proposed funding. Set up exchange for members to visit. Develop “sister club” concept. Ambassadorial Scholars Phil Murphy, CHAIR; Keith Huntsman Interview and mentor our candidate to prepare for district interviews. Find a counselor for any inbound Scholar to help with getting acclimated to CSU. Help the scholar understand the ins and outs of the CSU environs, and Fort Collins. Make sure all of their needs are met. Be sure to make the scholar welcome to and at all club functions. Work with other Fort Collins Clubs</p><p>3 VOCATIONAL SERVICE, Gary Turner, Board member responsible</p><p>Four-Way Test CLP Larry Salmen, Chair; Roger Bailey; Charlie Peterson; Curt Palin Continue the relationship we have re-established with CLP in presenting the activity with ninth graders in their speech class. Train members for participation in the program. Coordinate with the teacher and the members, having enough volunteers to cover our responsibility, and educate the club in the implementation of the task. Four-Way Test FRCC Charlie Peterson, Chair Establish a Four-Way Test program with Front Range Community College in conjunction with their business ethics curriculum. Work will have to be done to establish the parameters and materials for this endeavor, as well as setting up the schedule of volunteers, and working with the instructors involved. Rotary READ Fort Collins (Quad Club) Club Representatives: Charlie Peterson; Mahin Shahmardian; Gary Turner; Monica Schneider Work within a quad club committee to promote increased literacy and a love of reading to elementary-aged students in Fort Collins. Financial support is through annual fundraising that is independent of the Club budget, so the activities are self-funding. Programs consist of programs designed to increase elementary student’s reading habits, including increasing their own personal library. Be a part of the quad club Rotary Read Committee which plans and executes the literacy programs and raises funds to support the programs. Student of the Month Tom Welsh, Chair Coordinate with the four mainstream Ft. Collins high schools and Centennial High School to recognize outstanding students each month. Welcome the students at breakfast and introduce them to the club. At a club meeting, present student mementos of the recognition and present a check to the principal for the school media center to use in honor of the student(s). Give the student the opportunity to speak for 2-3 minutes about him/her self. Teacher of the Month and Teacher of the Year (Quad Club) Jim Hightower, Club Chair; Matt Murphy; Keith Huntsman; Mark Jackson Work with and through the school district and with the quad club committee to select a worthy Teacher of the Year from those selected from each school and presented as the Teacher of the Month. Work on the program, and site and facilitate the TOY event once every 3/4? Years as chair of the event. Teacher of the Month is contacted, welcomed, and introduced at the club meeting and given a gift from the club to show appreciation of ‘Service Above Self’ to the teacher. Rotary Emergency Services Award Christian Lasher, Chair Work with the four area emergency services organizations to recognize outstanding individuals in their areas. At a club meeting, present the recognized individual a plaque in conjunction with organization leadership. Give the organization leadership the opportunity to speak to the club about the contributions of the individual. Give the individual the opportunity to say a few words about him/her self. Occurs at least twice per year. Ed Gillette Vocational Service Award John Hintzman, Chair; John Carrol;, Bob Klick; John Shaw</p><p>4 Annually recognize outstanding achievement in vocational service to one Rotarian. Achievement is recognized that embodies the Rotary Spirit.</p><p>THE FAMILY OF ROTARY, YOUTH PROGRAMS, Raju Jairam Board member responsible</p><p>Interact (Quad Club) Mike Trinen Have a physical presence at Interact club meetings. Help with activities and recruitment and serve as chaperone. Consider their manpower when working on hands on projects. Rotaract (Quad Club) Kay Stevens This group of young professionals need little guidance, but a club presence would be beneficial for both the club and the Rotaractors. They are eager to help with hands on projects when given the opportunity. Rotary Youth Leadership Award and Young RYLA Kay Stevens; Wanda Bailey; Lee Vara-Nelson Work with other club members to coordinate the selection of students for RYLA and Young RYLA, by finding worthy candidates within the schools in Fort Collins. Interview, welcome, perhaps deliver and pick up to/from Estes Park. Coordinate the club’s candidates to speak about themselves and, when they return to give a program on their experience at RYLA/Young RYLA.</p><p>VARIOUS ACTIVITIES Raju Jairam board member responsible</p><p>The Rotary Foundation – Mark Korb, Chair; Dick Griffith; Mike Griffith; Charlie Peterson Promote and educate the club on TRF. Enlist Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors and Major Donors, and well as bequest society members Fundraising Dip N Dot Jeff Haiston, Chair, Coordinate with the Dip N Dot guy in Denver, keep all the dots cold and delivered to New West Fest. Set up and take down, tent, refrigeration, and electricity. Fill the necessary time slots for the two day event in Old Town. Peach Sales, Paul Knight, Chair, Phil Murphy, Mike Trinen; Marc Teets; Steve Bullard Promote to the club the idea of selling cases of peaches to friends and neighbors. Contact the Peach Grower on the western slope, arrange for delivery and distribution, as well as keep records of sales and account for the monies received. Breakfast Rotary Foundation Fundraiser (Ken Stone has agreed to “herd” the committee” Recruit a committee to develop ideas to raise funds for the Breakfast Foundation.</p><p>5 MEMBERSHIP, PE Patrick Bols board member responsible</p><p>Continually look for and befriend all prospective members. Orientation of prospective and new members. Carry on a dignified induction ceremony. Follow through on mentoring program for new members. Inform club members of proper introduction procedures for prospects. Fireside chats, red badge/blue badge requirements. Attendance reports to board. Keep membership packet current.
