<p> ACTION ITEM</p><p>MEMORANDUM July 9, 2015</p><p>TO: School Leaders, School Offices, and Central Office Departments </p><p>FROM: Alan Hooker, Leadership Development Officer </p><p>SUBJECT: Professional Learning Series 2015–Important Updates</p><p>CONTACT: Dr. Samuel Maldonado, Senior Manager, Leadership Development Department, 713.696.0600</p><p>The Houston Independent School District (HISD) invites campus and district leaders to register for the rescheduled Professional Learning Series (PLS) 2015. The focus of the PLS is “Leading Exceptional Schools,” which threads the HISD Leader Competencies, the four core initiatives— Linked Learning, Literacy by 3, Power Up, Global Education/Dual Language—and the Global Graduate Competencies. </p><p>Please review the following notes to ensure your team is registered and ready to attend the PLS 2015:  Attendees should bring the PLS padfolio distributed on June 18th at NRG to help organize their notes and handouts. New attendees have a reserved padfolio for pick up.  Bring HISD employee badge to scan for attendance.  The Professional Learning Series will take place on August 3th and 4th at the NRG Park, 8400 Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas. Onsite registration opens at 7:00 a.m. daily.  School teams must include the campus principal and leadership team members based on the team allotments below.</p><p>Campus Student Population Count Number of allotted attendees per school: 0-500 4 501-1000 5 Greater than 1001 6</p><p>Note: If your team registered for the PLS scheduled for June 16 th and 17 th , no further action is needed at this time. However, new leadership team members should register.</p><p> Pre-registration is available as follows:</p><p>Dates of the event Who should attend E-TRAIN Course # August 3rd and 4th School leadership teams except LD0500 those that attended the Rice University Leadership Institute in summer 2015.</p><p> The PLS registration window closes on July 23, 2015.  Parking passes may be downloaded from the following hyperlink: PLS Parking Pass. The parking pass is valid for free entry prior to 10 a.m. The cost for parking after 10 a.m. or upon re-entry is $12.00. Participants need to print copies of the parking pass for each day of PLS attendance.  Parking entrance is at the intersection of Kirby Drive and McNee Street, Entrance # 10. Parking for the PLS event is in the Orange Lot.  Participants will enter the NRG Park Center through the glass doors next to the U.S. and Texas Flag Poles.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge each day.  Conference materials will be distributed at NRG Park on August 3th and 4th at the registration kiosks in the main lobby.  Participants are encouraged to bring fully charged laptops, tablets or other electronic devices to use throughout the event.
