Most awards will be between $500 and $4000. To be eligible for a need-based grant, a student must 1) be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Iowa, 2) be in good academic standing, 3) receive some form of financial aid, and 4) earn credit that counts toward degree requirements. Graduate students are eligible if they are participating in a formal study abroad program and earning credit which will be transferred toward their degree.</p><p>Applications must be submitted to the Office for Study Abroad by the deadline posted on the web site. Applications for USAC Grants may be submitted later, as long as they’re submitted at least 60 days prior to departure.</p><p>You must also attach your financial aid award summary (available on ISIS). Grants are determined by comparing the financial need/aid figures and are awarded on the basis of relative need. USAC Grants do not require a financial aid award summary. If unavailable, complete the “statement of need” section below. </p><p>Note: Pell Grant recipients are also encouraged to apply for a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.
