<p> MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHER EDUCATION BONNESS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION AND INFORMATION 2017</p><p>The Bonness Scholarships honor academic excellence, personal excellence, community service and dedication to the teaching profession. Three or four Bonness Scholarships will be made available in the Teacher Education program for the school year beginning Fall 2017. The amount of each scholarship, which pays toward tuition and fees, has been around $1500 for the academic year.</p><p>WHO CAN APPLY:  Students in residence full-time at MSU during the year of application.  Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Students who will be a junior or senior or have undergraduate special designation, and will be attending MSU full-time during the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2017-8 school year (students completing student teaching in the Fall 2017 semester will be considered).  Students who have been formally admitted into Teacher Education at the time of application.  Students who have filled out the 2017-8 FAFSA form and are determined to be eligible for need-based Federal Student Aid (please check with the Financial Aid Office if you are unsure of your eligibility)</p><p>Students previously awarded the Bonness Scholarship may not apply.</p><p>TO APPLY: An application packet must include: 1. An autobiographical essay. The essay must include: a. Your current name, address, phone number and Student ID number; b. Background information about yourself which includes experience in community service, extracurricular activities and campus organizations; c. A statement about your outstanding personal attributes; and d. A statement about your purpose and dedication to the teaching profession. (Note – using headings makes your essay easier to follow for the readers) 2. A current unofficial transcript. 3. A list of MSU faculty references. Please obtain a faculty member’s permission to list them. Do NOT ask faculty for letters of reference. </p><p>Application packets must be turned in to Judy Bacon in the Department of Teacher Education & Human Performance (Swain 218) no later than 4:30 pm Friday, March 3, 2017</p><p>SELECTION PROCESS The Teacher Education Scholarship Committee will review the applications as soon after the closing date as possible. The committee members may contact faculty references. In addition, the Scholarship committee may individually interview candidates. Those awarded a scholarship will be notified by mail and provided with more specific instructions by the Financial Aid Office. </p><p>For more information contact Dr. Erik Kana, Chair, Teacher Education. </p>
