People depend on water and the land to live. Sometimes people adapt to their environment or they change the surroundings to meet their needs. Maps are geographical tools that show the entire Earth or a small part. There are different types of maps that show information. One shows physical land features (Physical Map). Another shows locations of different communities (Political Map). Another shows patterns and trends within a community, state, country or world (Thematic Map). Maps can show borders of cities, counties, states and countries.
