<p>Patient Participation Group Meeting</p><p>Monday 19 October 2015</p><p>Attendance: JF MRF SS BH LL GJ JW</p><p>1. Previous meeting minutes were agreed. GJ</p><p>Appointment System</p><p>2. The Practice Manager gave an overview of the current appointment system, the issues we are facing as a practice in terms of the demand and capacity. The PM informed the group that we are constantly looking at the appointment systems, are actively trying to recruit an additional GP. In addition to the current search for a GP, we have:</p><p> a. Recently employed a chronic disease nurse specialist to work 3 days a week. b. Will be employing a pharmacist to work four hours a day c. Recruited a new ANP – but the new person will need to be refreshed in her competencies.</p><p>Telephone System</p><p>3. The Practice Manager informed the group that BT had failed to install the new telephone system on three occasions; July, Aug and Oct of this year. The issue lies with the exchange. The next attempt will be Nov 11th.</p><p>Prime Ministers Challenge Fund Update</p><p>4. The Practice Manager gave an update of services this will provide:</p><p> a. Urgent Visiting in and out of hours – to be able to visit a patient at home within one hour to prevent an unnecessary admission. This service is designed to allow the paramedic who has been called to a house to call the Practice concerned – via a Hub to see if a GP could visit within an hour to prevent an admission. b. The Pharmacy Minor Ailments Service – This has been up and running since Aug but the uptake has been very poor.</p><p>Flu Clinics</p><p>5. The PM informed the group that the two flu clinics on the 26 Sept and 10 Oct were a good success and thanked members of the team for their assistance. Over 1000 injections and 180 nasal flu vaccinations were administered on these two clinics. There is a number of catch up clinics over the next three weeks to capture those who did not attend the Saturday clinics.</p><p>Carers</p><p>6. Lisa Lynch gave an update on the service the carers provide and read out a very interesting case study which highlighted the importance and benefits of carers. 11 Date of Next Meeting</p><p>The date of the next meeting is Monday 14 December 2015 at 1430hrs.
