Typed Draft of a Char

Typed Draft of a Char

A Separate Peace Chapters 9-11 Character Analysis

1. Pre-write Choose one character: Gene, Leper, Finny, or Brinker. Once you've picked your character, write three words to describe him (excellent adjectives – incorporate vocabulary – that identify and describe his one, primary, motivating character trait). These descriptive words can be all positive, all negative, or a mix. For each adjective/trait, write out 2 quotes (with page number) that support it. Quotes must come from chapters 9-11. You must complete this pre-write and bring it to class with your typed draft.

2. Typed Draft Once you have your six quotes, choose the best one for each adjective. Write a paragraph in which you discuss and analyze the character you’ve selected and his one, motivating character trait using the three adjectives you’ve chosen. In total, you will have 3 quotes of support with PDs (parenthetical documentation), and remember, for each quote, you need 2 sentences of explanation/analysis. Use the writing tools I handed out in September to help you. Include 3-4 vocabulary words from ASP, and at least 5 different varied sentence beginnings. All formal writing rules apply for this character analysis. This paragraph must be typed, double-spaced, in 12 pt. Times New Roman font.

Due Monday, November 27th – late passes will NOT be accepted for this assignment.
