<p> 1. What materials can I recycle over Christmas? You can still recycle all the usual materials like cardboard, cans, bottles and paper. However, there may be other materials you have at Christmas that you’re not sure about. </p><p>Yes you can: </p><p> Paper wrapping paper  Plain Christmas cards  Cardboard  Paper  Cans  Glass bottles</p><p>No you can’t: </p><p> Christmas trees – these can be recycled at one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres  Christmas Cards (if they contain glitter or other decorations like bows and badges.)  Foil wrapping paper </p><p>2. Will there be an additional black bin collection this year? No – black bins will be collected fortnightly as normal. </p><p>3. Why won’t there be an additional black bin collection? This year there is no ‘shut down’ week and so there will be no extra black bin collections. The usual alternate weekly collections and weekly recycling (green box) collections will continue over the holiday season without interruption. There will however be some day changes due to the bank holidays. Please refer to your household collection calendar or check your online calendar at www.doncaster.gov.uk/collectiondays for details.</p><p>4. How do I dispose of my Christmas tree? Your Christmas tree won’t be collected from your house, but you can take it to a household waste recycling centre. </p><p>5. How should I dispose of my Christmas cards? Christmas cards can be only be put in your green box if they are plain card, without any glitter or decoration like bows and badges. However, if you want to recycle this type of card there are lots of ways – you can make them into gift tags; donate to your local playgroup for craft sessions or give them to a charity shop.</p><p>6. Are household waste recycling centres open over Christmas? Yes, they are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Full opening times are available at www.doncaster.gov.uk/bins </p><p>7. What do I do if I have more recycling than my green box will hold? Recycling will be collected every week during the holidays as usual. If you are struggling for space in your green box, you can also take recycling to the household waste recycling centre, or to a recycling site such as those in supermarket car parks.
