<p> Avalon Elementary Parent Teacher Organization Meeting November 8, 2013 2:30pm-4:00pm </p><p>MINUTES</p><p>I. Called to Order at 2:33pm</p><p>II. Pledge of Allegiance</p><p>III. Old Business</p><p> a. Budget- an updated budget was passed out. </p><p> b. Cookbook Fundraiser- cookbooks will be delivered December 3rd. Students/parents can pre-order the cookbooks. If we need to order more, we can. They will take 2-3 weeks to be delivered. Pre-orders will stop on the 3rd and we will give out any books ordered and sell any that are left before and after school.</p><p> c. Box Tops- they were sent in. We have started collecting for the next turn in.</p><p> d. Red Ribbon Week- RRW went well. Next year we should do some more activities and/or schedule our activities over two weeks.</p><p> e. Trunk or Treat- Our first Trunk or Treat went well. Some feedback—we should have it the day before Halloween instead of the same day. We may get more people, including more teachers. There were 20+ cars and the students enjoyed themselves. Next year we should also make this event 1 hour, not two. </p><p>IV. New Business</p><p> a. Book Fair- A schedule of days/times for the book fair volunteers will be created this weekend by Mrs. Smith. Please send any names/information of any interested volunteers to her by Sunday. </p><p> b. Toys for Tots Dances- We still have not heard back from the company. We will have to figure out a way to get the toys to where they need to be. The dances will be December 12th for 1st and 2nd grade and December 13th for grades 3-5. We will send out flyers at the beginning of December. </p><p>V. Good of the Order</p><p> a. Fall Fundraiser- everything will be delivered the day before Thanksgiving Break. The company will bring everything and distribute the packages. If there are any issues, they will resolve them as they arise. b. Discount cards- we should be doing a pre-sale in December. </p><p> c. Movie night- Can we do a movie with subtitles in Spanish to get more people?</p><p>VI. Announcements/Comments</p><p> a. A restructuring meeting should happen at the beginning of 2014 (January-March) because we need to redefine the roles of the Executive Board and spread the workload out better. </p><p>VII.
