In Year 3 this year, our residential visit will be going to Sayers Croft Field Centre, in Ewhurst for a 2 night stay. Whilst this might currently feel like a big step for your child, we have found this to an invaluable and enjoyable experience for all children involved. Why are we going? Residential experiences enable children to live and share with others, increase their organisational skills and develop independence. At Sayers Croft your child will enjoy taking part in a range of exciting on-site activities which are both fun and educational, providing maximum benefit for everyone who undertakes them. They have been designed to enhance and complement the National Curriculum as well as develop team work, communication and negotiation skills and improve personal confidence.

When are we going? 8th-10th May You will be asked to drop your children directly to Sayers Croft Field Centre at lunch time on 8th May and pick them up lunchtime on the 10th May.

What about the centre? Sayers Croft is a beautiful, secure site with 56 acres of woodlands, meadows, ponds and fields and has been providing quality outdoor experiences for young people for over 70 years. All the activities will take place within the grounds and staff from the centre who are experienced in outdoor education support our teachers with the visit. There is a website which provides detailed information and pictures about Sayers Croft. http://www.sayers-croft.org.uk/home

Which staff will be going? Mrs Stocks will be leading the visit and will be accompanied by Miss Wishart, Mrs Baird and several other members of Tillingbourne staff. How much does it cost? The cost per pupil will be approximately £155 which is all-inclusive. The exact amount will be confirmed nearer the time once the programme is finalised. This includes board and accommodation and all activities. The children will not require any pocket money. Please note that financial support may be available if you are in receipt of certain benefits. Please contact our Business Manager, Christa Wijnja, in confidence if you wish to discuss this.

What do I do now? If you wish your child to take part in this visit, we need to ask for a non-returnable deposit of £28 online before Friday 9th December to secure your child’s place. This payment should be made on SCO pay under ‘trips and events’ then ‘Sayers Croft 2017’ or by cash or cheque. This deposit is requested as we need to secure our bookings at this popular venue. The balance of the final cost will be due by Friday 7 th April 2017 and can be made in instalments if required. There is no need to complete a consent form as this is covered by the annual general trip consent form. You will receive further details nearer the date of the visit.
