This includes introduction to HTML, XML, enterprise design patterns, web services and database access. This textbook covers most of client side web programming examples with a some server-side examples. Thus I may cover additional material that is not in the textbook.

Grading: There will be one final exam, several programming assignments, a group project, and several homework + quizzes. The grading weights are defined as follows:

Final Exam 350 points 35% Group Project 350 points 35% Programs 150 points 15% HW & Quizzes 150 points 15% Total 1000 points 100%

The final "letter" grade will be determined from a curve at the end.

Exams & Quizzes: All the exams and quizzes will be open book and open notes. There will be no laptops, or any personal digital devices allowed. I strongly suggest that you attend each class and take good notes during the semester. There will be NO make-up exams and quizzes.

Projects: All the homework, programming assignments, and related documentations must be handed in electronically. Programs that are handed in after the due date will not be accepted. Additional information about each project will be given in separate handouts. You are encouraged to discuss the programs with each other, but you must always turn in your own work. Any student caught with sharing or copying code will receive an “F” in this class, and he/she will be reported to the Dean. For your programming assignments, it has to be easily tested by me or by my helper.

Homework: There will be several homework assignments throughout the semester.

General Information: This is a fast-paced course with many hand-on programming assignments. I assume that you have experiences of writing programs in a high level language. You will be spending an estimate of "at least" 15 hours a week for your assignments in this class. If you cannot handle the workload, please drop the class immediately. I will not sign any drop forms after the deadline. You must turn off any cell phone ringer at the beginning of each class!
