<p> Mrs. Loos's Third Grade Curriculum Overview for Third Grade Third Grade is a very busy year. We learn a lot of new material, and we try to have some fun along the way. You have received an "All About Third Grade Packet". Here is a brief "Third Grade" overview: Reading • Scott Foresman Language Arts/Reading Series "Reading Street" • Book Adventure (bookadventure.org) on the computer. Your child will read paperback books at school and at home and take quizzes on the computer. Each student will have a user name and password. • Literature Circles - small groups will read and discuss a book of their choice, addressing vocabulary, main idea, characters, connections to real life, etc. • Non-fiction reading in Social Studies, Science, and Health Spelling • Spelling as part of the Scott Foresman Reading program • Spelling list comes home each week. • Challenge words will be sent home if spelling pretest score on Monday isi 100% or only 1 word wrong • Spelling Test on Fridays - combination of words and dictation sentences • Students are graded on both spelling words and written conventions.
