<p> Class Information Ms. M. Heatherly AP Statistics</p><p>Supplies Needed  Three Ring Binder or Notebook with pockets  Pencils (no. 2 and colored)  Highlighter or Pen (not black)  Loose Leaf Paper  Graph Paper  Graphing Calculator (TI84+ or higher is recommended)  Ruler  Other Supplies may be needed later (ample notice will be given)</p><p>Class Rules  Come to class prepared.  Work quietly and remain in your seat, unless otherwise directed.  Work collaboratively in small groups as directed.  No sleeping or eating in class.  No electronic devices or spinners.  Be in your seat and working on the posted assignment or prepare to go over homework when the bell rings.  Respect others and their property.  All Jacksonville High School and Onslow County School System policies/rules are in effect for this class.</p><p>Policies and Procedures  Upon entering the room, students should 1) get out their homework and materials, 2) have pencils sharpened and 3) if applicable, begin working on the assignment/quiz posted on the board, overhead, or desk. Students not in their seats and following this policy will be marked tardy when the bell rings.  Students should use the restrooms before class or at lunch. Students will be allowed to use the restroom during class only for emergency situations.  Students may be asked to work together for certain assignments. At these times, students should talk quietly, work together, share materials and ideas, and stay on task.  No form of communication or use of unauthorized resources during quizzes or tests will be tolerated. If a group project or assignment is assigned, all members of the group must equally participate.  Graphing calculators will be used during the semester. Students should take care in handling these resources.  Students are encouraged to ask questions and participate in discussions during class.  All work must be shown. Answers only are not acceptable. Consequences  Appropriate participation and conduct according to the policies, procedures and rules mentioned above may result in one or more of the following consequences: verbal praise, recognition, tangible rewards, earned privileges, and/or parental contact.  Failure to adhere to the policies, procedures, and rules mentioned above may result in one or more of the following consequences: verbal reminder, verbal reprimand, alternative assignment, counseling, detention, parental contact, and/or office (administrative) referral. Negative consequences vary according to the frequency and severity of the infraction.</p><p>Assignments (In Class and Homework)  Assignments will count for 20% of the student's grade.  Assignments will be given daily.  Assignments will not be accepted late unless the student is absent when the work is collected.  It is the student's responsibility to find out what assignments were missed when absent. All homework assignments will be posted in the classroom on the Assignment Log.  All work must be shown to be eligible for credit.  Assignments will be graded and assigned a point value from 0 to 100.  Assignments from the given unit will be collected the day of the unit test.</p><p>Quizzes  Quizzes will count for 20% of the student's grade.  Quizzes may or may not be announced.  Quizzes will be graded and assigned a point value from 0 to 100.</p><p>Tests/Projects  Tests will count for 60% of the student's grade.  Tests will be graded on the 100-point scale.  Tests will always be announced at least two days in advance.  Projects may be assigned for various topics and counted as a test grade.  Tests will not be released to students. Students may come after school during the tutoring time to view and go over any missed work. Test corrections are not available.</p><p>Final Exam  The AP Exam will be given in May 2018. Students will be notified regarding the date.  There is no state final exam for this course. A teacher made exam or final project will be given instead.</p><p>Work Missed Due to Absences  Absences will not excuse a student from turning in previously assigned work on the day he returns to class.  Missed assignments must be made up within two days of returning to class unless other arrangements are approved by the teacher.  It is the student's responsibility to get the missed notes or see the instructor after class.  Missed quizzes will be replaced with the score of the corresponding test.  Missed tests must be made up within one week of returning to school. This make up will occur after school unless otherwise indicated by the teacher.  Students accumulating absences over several consecutive days should make plans to see the teacher so that a schedule of due dates can be arranged.</p><p>Extra Help  Prime Time should be utilized to gain extra help and/or practice in weak areas. I will also be available for extra help most days until 2:40 and on an as needed basis. Due to other obligations on campus (meetings, club activities, etc.), it is recommended that the student check with me on Friday or Monday to determine the tutoring availability for the week.</p><p>Grading Policy Tests/Projects... 60% Quizzes... 20% Assignments... 20% Total... 100%</p><p>Electronic Devices  Students will not use electronic devices.  In case of personal or family emergencies, the teacher must be notified before the student is to use the device.  Failure to comply with the above rules may result in consequences to include loss of the device, student/teacher conference, student/teacher/parent conference, office referral.</p><p>Books  Books will be issued to each student.
