<p> FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ITRP under the Linkage Programme (2016 edition)</p><p>Version 2 - Release date: 2 November 2016  All Participants should read the Funding Rules for schemes under the Linkage Programme (2016 edition). The scheme specific ‘Instructions to Applicants’ documents also contain important information for Research Office staff and individual participants preparing Proposals.  The Australian Research Council (ARC) does not respond to queries from individual participants. Individual participants should direct all queries regarding ARC funding schemes to their Administering Organisation’s Research Office (or equivalent). If further information regarding the scheme is required, the Research Office should contact the relevant scheme. How do I address this criterion in my proposal?</p><p>The Industry Growth Centres Initiative is an industry-led approach driving innovation, productivity and competitiveness by focusing on areas of competitive strength and strategic priority. The Initiative will help Australia transition into smart, high value and export focused industries. The Growth Centres Initiative identifies six sectors of competitive strength and strategic priority.</p><p>To address the Industry Growth Centre selection criterion in the Project Description of a Hubs or Centres proposal, applicants should identify the appropriate Growth Centre(s) that aligns with the chosen Industrial Transformation Priority(s) for the ITRP project. </p><p>Applicants are expected to engage with the relevant Growth Centre in developing their proposal. The ARC will make their best efforts to provide up-to-date contact details to Applicants. Applicants should also consult Growth Centre websites directly. The Proposal Description should demonstrate that applicants have engaged with the Growth Centre(s) contact(s) and how this might have shaped their project, particularly with a view to drive growth, productivity and competitiveness in the key industry sectors. Prior to engagement with the Industry Growth Centres, the ARC suggests applicants review the relevant Growth Centre’s key themes, vision, strategic direction and/or Industry Knowledge Priorities. </p><p>Linkage Programme - ITRP FAQs – V2.0 Page 2 of 4 Proposals should clearly describe how the research addresses these priorities. Further information on the Industry Growth Centre Initiative is available at the Industry Growth Centres.</p><p>Note: It is not a requirement to obtain written confirmation. It should be clear in the Proposal that you have engaged in a meaningful way with the Growth Centre(s) contact(s).</p><p>Note: Proposals which are unable to demonstrate alignment with the Growth Centres are still eligible to apply but may be less competitive than comparable proposals.</p><p>1.2.2 The Funding Rules indicate that in writing my proposal I must engage with the relevant Industry Growth Centre(s). Will the Growth Centres be involved in the assessment of my proposal?</p><p>As per subsections B12 and C12 of the Funding Rules, Proposals submitted to the ARC may be subject to additional assessor input, including consultation with the Industry Growth Centres. The ARC may consult with the Growth Centres regarding a Proposal’s likelihood of meeting the scheme objective of driving growth, productivity and competitiveness within their key industry sectors. The Growth Centres will be asked to provide advice to the ARC’s Selection Advisory Committee (SAC) regarding the level of engagement sought by the applicant in the development of the proposal.
