<p>UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 1</p><p>FACILITY: Clear, unobstructed field</p><p>EQUIPMENT: One ball for every two players</p><p>PERFORMANCE GOAL: Students will use their feet to pass a soccer ball, and practice the soccer dribble.</p><p>COGNITIVE GOAL: Students will learn passing with the instep of their right and left foot gives them a choice, and why they should not lift their foot to trap a ball.</p><p>LESSON SAFETY: Practice areas should be separated by five yards per group. The line of direction should be the same.</p><p>LESSON SEQUENCE: 1. Demonstrate proper instep pass and foot trap. 2. Have students practice kicking back and forth with a partner. 3. Demonstrate the dribble and have the students practice the tight dribble and loose dribble. 4. Change the goals to maintain interest. UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 2</p><p>FACILITY: Clear, unobstructed field</p><p>EQUIPMENT: One ball for every two players</p><p>PERFORMANCE GOAL: Students will use their foot to trap the ball when an opponent is dribbling.</p><p>COGNITIVE GOAL: Students will learn the rules.</p><p>LESSON SAFETY: Practice areas should be separated by five yards per group. When the competitions start, separate the groups by 10 yards.</p><p>LESSON SEQUENCE: 1. Demonstrate a straight-on tackle. 2. Have students get a partner and dribble slowly to each other. 3. Demonstrate a place kick. 4. Change goals to maintain interest. UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 3</p><p>FACILITY: Goalposts and a game area for every two teams</p><p>EQUIPMENT: Scrimmage vests for half the class</p><p>PERFORMANCE GOAL: Students will move the ball by heading and knee volleying.</p><p>COGNITIVE GOAL: Students will learn why they use their head to contact the ball, redirect a ball coming at their body, and understand why jobs on the soccer field are differentiated.</p><p>LESSON SAFETY: The fields should be clean of debris and set up with visible goalposts.</p><p>LESSON SEQUENCE: 1. Demonstrate how to use their head to contact the ball. 2. Demonstrate the knee volley. 3. Divide the class into teams. 4. Prepare them for a game. UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 4</p><p>FACILITY: Goalposts and a game area for every two teams</p><p>EQUIPMENT: Blackboard, chart, or magnetic board</p><p>PERFORMANCE GOAL: Students will begin game with a proper kickoff and play their positions during a game. </p><p>COGNITIVE GOAL: Students will learn how jobs on the field are different for the forward line, midfielders, and backs, and the applicable rules for a throw-in.</p><p>LESSON SAFETY: There should be clear game areas with visible goals. Stop any dangerous play.</p><p>LESSON SEQUENCE: 1. Show where players start off at kickoff. 2. Change a diagram to show each position once the ball moves down the field. 3. Divide the class into game teams. 4. Start the game with a kickoff. 5. Stop the game to demonstrate a proper throw-in. 6. Continue the game. UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 5</p><p>FACILITY: Goalposts and a game area for every two teams</p><p>EQUIPMENT: Blackboard, chart, or magnetic board</p><p>PERFORMANCE GOAL: Students will play a game, returning the ball to play after a score, after a failed shot for the goal, after it goes on the sideline.</p><p>COGNITIVE GOAL: Students will learn what skills work best for the players, learn what special skills are more useful, and learn rules.</p><p>LESSON SAFETY: There should be clear game areas with visible goals. Stop any dangerous play.</p><p>LESSON SEQUENCE: 1. Explain how personal assets can be used more easily in certain positions. 2. How to put the ball in play after a team shoots and scores. 3. Point out the boundaries. 4. Start the games. 5. Coach from the sidelines. UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 6</p><p>FACILITY: Goalposts and a game area for every two teams</p><p>EQUIPMENT: Blackboard, chart, or magnetic board</p><p>PERFORMANCE GOAL: Students will be able to put the ball back into play after personal violations.</p><p>COGNITIVE GOAL: Students will learn high kicking, what is meant by dangerous play, sliding tackles, pushing, holding, kicking, and offsides.</p><p>LESSON SAFETY: There should be clear game areas with visible goals. Stop any dangerous play.</p><p>LESSON SEQUENCE: 1. Explain high kicking and why it is dangerous, sliding tackles, pushing, holding, offsides. 2. Explain penalties 3. Allow teams to pick their captains. 4. Start the games with a kickoff. 5. Coach the positions.</p><p>UNIT: Soccer</p><p>LESSON: 7-12 Tournament conclusion </p>
