<p> Fairy Tale Comic Book Project You need to choose one (1) of the following fairy tales:  Hansel & Gretel  Little Red Riding Hood  Rumpelstiltskin  The Golden Goose  Snow White  Cinderella  Rapunzel  The Ugly Ducking  The Constant Tin Soldier  The Emperor’s New Clothes</p><p>NOTE: If you want to do a different fairy tale from the ones on the list above, you have to bring me a printed copy of the originally printed fairy tale for approval. After I’ve looked at your printed story, if it is acceptable, I will approve it for use. REQUIREMENTS  Comic book must be 5 – 10 comic style pages (See Sample) You can use http://superherosquad.marvel.com/create_your_own_comic to create templates  Comic must be in color  All drawings must be drawn by hand  You are going to rewrite the story so that it is set in a “modern day” setting  The plot must stay the same to the one read in class o The major events must stay the same and must all be included . For example, In “Snow White”, the evil stepmother told a huntsman to take Snow White into the forest and kill her – that is a major event that cannot be changed.  The number of story elements must match the original story read in class o For example, the number of dwarves that Snow White meets cannot change; you must keep the 5 characters from Little Red Riding Hood (Little Red, the huntsman, grandmother, wolf, mother); the witch gives Snow White 3 items in an attempt to get rid of her – the number can’t be changed.  What CAN be changed are the details, in order to fit into your “modern day” setting o For example, the 3 items that the witch gives to Snow White in an attempt to kill her can be changed. Instead of a comb, staylaces, and apple, you can have the witch give her a bumpit hair clip, a leather vest, and a slice of apple pie. o You can also change character names, just like Disney created names for the 7 dwarves in Snow White; you can give them new names as well. o The setting should be changed, so instead of a forest, you can have it take place in a mall or at a park – whatever is going to help make it obvious that it takes place in a “modern day” setting.</p><p>5 – 10 pages in comic style: 50 points Hand-drawn in color: 50 points Consistent with original story: 100 points Modified to fit modern day: 50 points TOTAL: 250 points</p>
