Office of Information Technology Dress Code

Office of Information Technology Dress Code Effective July, 2003

In an effort to maintain a professional image while on campus, the Office of Information Technology has adopted the OIT Dress Code, which should be followed by both full-time staff and student employees. The OIT Dress Code is intended to provide guidelines - it is your responsibility to work within these guidelines and the individual aspects of your position. These lists are not exhaustive, so common sense and a focus on the goals of our effort must prevail.

Please, consider the following:

Clothing: Clothing should reflect the professionalism with which you carry out your duties. Shirts with OIT logo and pants or walking shorts, or other professional attire are encouraged (jeans and t-shirts are acceptable within the context of your job, or as the situation dictates). “Casual Fridays” will continue as in the past.

DON’TS: 1. No cutoffs, either shirts or shorts 2. No short shorts 3. No tank tops (e.g. spaghetti straps & muscle shirts) 4. No bare midriffs (in other words, nothing too revealing)

Footwear: Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. The wearing of sandals (the sturdier the better) is acceptable in general but subject to the following restrictions:

DON’TS: 1. No Sandals are to be worn when driving a cart 2. No Sandals are to be worn when picking up, working on or deploying medium to heavy equipment (broken and crushed toes are no fun) 3. No Sandals are to be worn when working in hazardous areas 4. No Swimming/water footwear (e.g., aqua socks, flip flops, fins)

[please detach below and forward to OIT Administration & Support, mail stop 1075, HWB-101]

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the Office of Information Technology Dress Code and agree to adhere to the guidelines. I realize that failure to follow the OIT Dress Code may result in disciplinary action.

PRINT NAME DATE

SIGNATURE

General/OIT Dress Code.doc; 10/10/05
