<p> BOROUGH OF OADBY AND WIGSTON LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976 </p><p>INTRODUCTION OF HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES</p><p>Oadby and Wigston Borough Council intends to introduce a table of hackney carriage fares applicable in the Borough, in accordance with Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976. If no objections are received, the fares will be implemented in accordance with the Council’s Hackney Carriage byelaws, which are due to come into effect on 3rd September 2007, as follows:-</p><p>1. DISTANCE Maximum fare</p><p>Up to and including one mile (1.61 kilometres) £3.00</p><p>For each additional one fifth of a mile (322 metres) 28p</p><p>2. WAITING TIME</p><p>For each completed period of 1 minute 30p</p><p>3. EXTRA CHARGES</p><p>(a) For each journey begun or ended between midnight and 6 am Normal fare plus 33 % (other than bank holiday Mondays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).</p><p>(b) For each journey begun or ended on Christmas Day, Boxing Day Double fare and New Year’s Day, for each journey made after 6 pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and for each journey begun or ended between midnight and 6 am on 27 December and 2 January.</p><p>(c) For each journey begun or ended on a bank holiday Monday. Normal fare plus 33%</p><p>(d) For all journeys made by vehicles which can accommodate Normal fare plus 50% between 5 and 8 passengers.</p><p>(e) For each dog carried (except guide dogs which travel free). £1.00 per journey</p><p>(f) Soiling charge £50.00</p><p>(g) Wheelchairs Free of charge</p><p>NOTICE TO PASSENGERS: Travelling outside the Borough boundary:-</p><p>1. Fares for these journeys are negotiable between the driver and the hirer before the journey commences.</p><p>2. Where no fare is agreed in advance of the journey, the maximum charge is limited to the amount which would be payable if calculated on the above scale fixed by the Borough Council for journeys within the Borough.</p>
