<p>Focus: Exploring diversity through authentic media resources Michael Limerick and Alex Stamp Activities: </p><p>5 min Warm Up 1: Atoms (physical/mind warm-up) </p><p>In 2’s (face to face, back to back) In 3’s (create a 3-hand handshake) (1 minute) In 4’s Question: What immediate things come to mind when you hear the term DIVERSITY? (discussion 2 minutes). Quick discussion.</p><p>15 min. The West Wind Blows Circle up the chairs and play the west wind blows Go through the game as it is know progressing from basic to critical questions Distribute the identity cards Do a sitting in role walk through Do another round using the identity cards and move from basic to critical</p><p>5 to read/explain 15 min to prep Creating soundscapes In 4-6 groups, based on five IMAGES (and connected articles)</p><p>Stimulus: Article / photo, w a weblink. |Maybe some guiding questions to steer it towards a soundscape . </p><p>Groups of 4 or 5. Each group will focus on one of the following issues (using media image/article as stimulus) and create a group soundscape: </p><p> Access to clean water  Refugee crisis  Peaceful protests (NFL vs. Trump, BLM)  Recovery from Natural Disasters  Invictus Games</p><p>Some other ideas:  Virginia, Missing indigenous woman/ First nations community during a water/ suicide crisis, Canadian Alt-Right group, Canadian unemployment in a community, BLM police officers in a school</p><p>Your sound “poem” should convey a specific mood and/or tell a story. Use your voices, your bodies, and any found objects or surfaces in the room (be gentle!) to create a sound environment. You must also incorporate each of the following into your soundscape: Background Music suitable for your soundscape. (use your PED’s, our laptop…) ONE sentence an additional FOUR words one choral/collective moment at any time in your piece</p><p>15 min Share with others / debrief</p><p>Adding Movement to you Soundscape: After exploring the stimulus through soundscape, add a group physical element to your piece. Your movement piece can be natural or stylised and should help to strengthen your narrative. Employ mime, tableaux, or any other drama genres you see fit.</p><p>Presentations!</p>
