Often times they are unaware of which field they are most interested in, the rigorous nature of the course work, the time commitment required and how the class relates to their career choice. This project is designed to help the students acquire answers to these questions and thereby reaffirm their decision to pursue a career in the allied health field. The students will be more motivated with respect to the class after gaining an understanding of how the class helps them achieve their objective and by eliminating doubt with respect to their career choice. </p><p>This project is aimed at exposing the students to a variety of professionals currently working in their chosen field. This will be accomplished by video taping, saving and cataloging one-on-one interviews with actual healthcare professionals. The goal is to obtain the answers the students seek about their chosen career that they might not otherwise have been able to acquire. Allowing the students to access and analyze these interviews will promote the professional development of the student, better prepare the students for the success in the class itself and ultimately help them to achieve their academic and professional goals. OR 2) Enhance the academic quality of gatekeeper courses and supplementary resources Project Description The purpose of this project is to This proposal is to fund the identification and interviewing of various allied health professionals in the community. The interviews will be videotaped, cataloged and stored for future use by the students at Phoenix College. These interviews will support the biology students in two major ways: 1) they will help students obtain information regarding their career choice options and 2) provide insight into the importance of their current classes.</p><p>First and foremost the videos will provide students with a reference for different career choices they may be considering. Many students do not have access to individuals in the career fields in which they are interested. </p>
