<p> JOB POSTING</p><p>TRANSPORTATION SECURITY & FREIGHT PLANNER</p><p>The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is seeking a transportation professional with project management experience to perform a variety of assignments related to transportation security and freight planning.</p><p>The ideal candidate will possess analytical abilities, a strong work ethic, and good interpersonal skills. Successful applicant will be part of a dynamic group of transportation professionals and must be a team player, but possess the ability to work independently with limited direction from supervisor. Individual will work with public and private sector. Must be able to work under pressure.</p><p>Candidates should possess knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of transportation planning and engineering. Assignments may include regional, large area or site specific projects or policy issues primarily in transportation security and goods/freight movement and related federal and state transportation regulation and law. However, knowledge or experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and safety conscious planning are also helpful.</p><p>Applicants must be able to undertake projects from inception to completion including design project methodologies; identify, collect, and interpret needed data (including in the field). Indentify and acquire or develop appropriate analysis procedures; draw conclusions; document procedures and results in technical and non-technical reports; prepare and present results to audiences of varying technical knowledge. Many projects include consensus building among diverse interests. Supervisory experience helpful. May entail oversight of consultants.</p><p>This position requires excellent writing, organization and oral presentation skills. Working knowledge of databases and proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is essential. Office 200x experience is preferred. Experience with GIS software is helpful.</p><p>Minimum requirements are a Transportation related Bachelor degree in City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, or Statistics. A Master’s degree and/or relevant experience is preferred. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Ohio’s driver license.</p><p>Salary dependent on qualifications.
