<p>Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga, www.zainproti.com announces the </p><p>CALL FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS FOR IDAS 2012 - INTERNATIONAL DEBATE ACADEMY AND TOURNAMENT SLOVENIA 2012, Gozd Martuljek/Ljubljana 17th – 25th November 2012 http:// debateacademy.net/Debate_Academy/IDA_Slovenia.html</p><p>Dear applicant, </p><p>We kindly invite university debaters, professors, teachers, trainers, judges, organizers to apply for scholarships for IDAS 2012, which are provided from the generous support of Global Debates, Youth Initiative at Open Society Fund, www.soros.org/grants/global- debates and IDEA, www.idebate.org </p><p>Following the funder’s guidelines we will prioritize scholarships to allow participants from weak/non-existing debate communities in the region to attend. The scholarships would go toward registration fees for participants from the region and will be awarded for the participation at the whole program, not tournament only. It is expected that the participants partly cover the participation fees, which means there will be no scholarship awarded to cover the participation fees 100%. When deciding about the scholarship grants we will prioritize the applicants who have never participated at IDAS before. </p><p>The criteria used to award scholarships are as follows: 1. The financial need of the applicant. 2. The quality of the scholarship essay. 3. The applicant’s plan, determination and ability to contribute to the promotion and growth of university debate program in her/his debate community. 4. Please make sure to include: - Why would you like to participate? - What are your biggest strength, abilities and challenges in promoting university debate in your faculty, university, country, and region? -What you will offer to the academy in exchange so that it will be a more rewarding experience for all because you were there. -What you are doing to try and raise money to pay for the uncovered portion of the expenses? </p><p>You may also include a letter of recommendation. </p><p>Please, send the scholarship essay to [email protected] no later than September 25th.
