<p>Chiara’s Diary Europa Galante </p><p>Fabio Biondi Europa Galante</p><p>"Chiaretta will certainly be the first violin of Europe" wrote Charles de Brosses the 29th August 1739, while he was listening to the young girl playing hidden by the gratings of the church of the Pieta hospital in Venice.</p><p>One of the orphans under the guidance of the great Antonio Vivaldi was performing, tearing emotion and amazement, in a passionate act of communication with the outside world unknown and forbidden.</p><p>Chiaretta has been and is an emblematic figure of this extraordinary phenomenon of musical talent at the Venetian institutions expressed during almost 40 years of loyalty and consecration to the violin, viola d'amore, organ and singing.</p><p>Her performances were of such quality that they attracted dedication by the most famous local composers who composed pieces expressly for her.</p><p>This concert presents not only her personal journey (born in 1718 and still active in 1770) but the passage of a whole epoch of transition between baroque and gallant style, lived by a little orphan, hidden from the eyes of the world but present thanks to her artistic voice.</p><p>14 musicians – strings and basso continuo. </p><p>Programme </p><p>Giovanni Porta Sinfonia for strings in D major 6’ Antonio Vivaldi Sinfonia for strings in G major 'il Coro delle muse' (1740) 7’ Antonio Vivaldi Violin Concerto in B flat major RV 222 13’ Antonio Martinelli Violin Concerto in E major 'dedicato alla S.ra Chiara' 14’ -- Antonio Martinelli Concerto for Viola d’amore and strings in D major 11’ 'Per la S.ra Chiaretta' Andrea Bernasconi Sinfonia for strings in D major 7’ Fulgenso Perotti Grave in G minor for violin and bass continuo 3’ Gaetano Latilla Sinfonia for strings in G major (1761) 7’</p><p>“ ...The Galante performances, led from the violin by Mr. Biondi, were typically energetic and refined, and beautifully suited to the differing qualities of each work.
