The team is 7-8 in the month after a 2-0 start. The team average dropped from .328 in June to .276 in July and to .259 in August. The overall average has dropped from a league leading .312 on July 1st to .292 going into tonight but still second in the AA. The flip side was the home run total jumped from 15 in June to 26 in July. So far in 15 games of August the power number is at 10 for the month. By contrast the club hit .261 last August the second highest month to .266 for the month of June of 2017. The team went 16-15 for the month of August last season. Moving on up Wirkin Estevez is the third player to sign as a free agent with the AAA Mexican League. The T-Bones have lost 11 players during the season to affiliated ball yet still somehow are still in the hunt and reached a franchise best 23 games above .500 last week. Dylan Tice became the 38th Kansas City player and the eighth this season to have his contract purchased while with the T-Bone last week. In May, the Washington Nationals purchased the contract of outfielder Adam Brett Walker, and the New York Mets purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Cody Martin. On July 3, the Cubs purchased the contract of left- handed T-Bones pitcher James Buckelew. On July 7, the Cincinnati Reds purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Carlos Diaz. On July 13, the Seattle Mariners purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Joe Filomeno, and on July 17 the Texas Rangers picked up OF/IF Nick Torres. Taylor Featherston was plucked from the roster less than two weeks ago by the Cincinnati Reds on July 24th. Add IF/OF Frank Duncan to the mix signed by the Dodgers just a week before spring trainings. On that note the club has lost the #6 Dylan Tice and #9 Nick Torres ranked batting averages in the league.
