<p> SECTION 10.0 APPEARANCE CODE</p><p>10.1 Appearance Code Policy</p><p>A neat and well-groomed appearance is very important to employee effectiveness and acceptance by the public. Employees shall present a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times. Employees are to wear clothing specified by job classification which conforms to the standards established in this Policy. Unless otherwise specified, the term ‘uniform clothing’ refers to shirts, trousers, coats, vests or jackets supplied by MOTA and required to be worn according to this Policy.</p><p>After completion of the probationary period, full time employees will receive the following: five (5) uniform shirts, five (5) uniform trousers, one (1) winter coat, one (1) vest and one (1) spring/fall jacket. After completion of the probationary period, part time employees will receive the following: three (3) uniform shirts, three (3) uniform trousers, one (1) winter coat, one (1) vest and one (1) spring/fall jacket. Uniform clothing furnished by MOTA shall be at no cost to the employees. Uniform clothing will be replaced when needed as determined by management. Any and all alterations for uniform clothing to fit properly will be the responsibility of the employee.</p><p>Uniform clothing worn on the job is to be worn properly and as designed to be worn. Shirts are to be buttoned and shirttails are to be tucked in. The top edge of the pants is not to be worn below the waist. Hat bills are to face the front. Uniforms are to be kept cleaned and pressed, presenting a neat, clean and professional image.</p><p>Once uniform clothing has been issued to an employee, only uniform clothing may be worn while performing MOTA duties. Uniform clothing is not to be worn to work at secondary jobs or while off-duty. Vehicle operators may carry an additional jacket or coat on the bus, if the weather makes it necessary. No text, wording, or graphics of any kind may be added to the uniform clothing as issued.</p><p>Faces shall be clean-shaven, or mustaches and beards must be neatly trimmed. </p><p>Hair shall be neat, clean, and combed depending on style. Hair shall be worn in such a manner that the safe performance of an employee’s job duties is not hindered.</p><p>The use of intoxicating beverages while wearing uniform clothing is strictly prohibited.</p><p>10.1.1 Shoes</p><p>Shoes worn while on the job shall be of solid construction which fit securely to the foot, and of a color and style appropriate to the job. Shoes shall be kept in a good serviceable condition. Heels may not be more than 2 inches in height measured from the instep. No sandals, open-heeled, or open-toed shoes may be worn. </p><p>3/19/2015 Page 1 10.1.2 Hats</p><p>The only acceptable hat must fit closely to the head. No tassels, patches, decorations, or long stocking-cap head wear will be allowed. Hats may not display any text, wording, or graphics of any kind. On MOTA-issued hats, no text, wording, or graphics of any kind may be added to the hats as issued. </p><p>10.1.3 Pins and Insignia</p><p>Only MOTA-issued patches, badges, pins, insignia and awards are permissible on any clothing worn while on the job. All other patches, badges, pins, insignia and awards are prohibited.</p><p>10.1.4 Identification Badge</p><p>All employees are required to wear their MOTA-issued identification badge at or above the waist in plain view at all times while on MOTA property, operating a MOTA vehicle, or otherwise representing MOTA. Use of this badge by anyone other than the employee to whom it is issued is prohibited.</p><p>10.1.5 Sweaters</p><p>A crew neck shirt or turtleneck may be worn under the uniform shirt. A solid color sweater, sweatshirt or sweater vest may be worn over the uniform shirt.</p><p>10.1.6 Jewelry</p><p>No necklaces, pendants, or chains are to be worn on the outside of the uniform shirt. Rings and bracelets may be worn so long as they do not interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle.</p><p>10.2 Adverse Weather Conditions</p><p>During adverse weather conditions, as determined by management, additional or different accessories may be worn.</p><p>10.3 Termination of Employment</p><p>Upon termination of employment with MOTA by the employee or by MOTA, the MOTA- issued identification badge and all uniforms provided by MOTA must be returned to the business office.</p><p>2</p>
