<p>Honors World History Schedule Unit 2: 8/17-8/21</p><p>Key Dates: Monday, 8/24—Atlas Check Friday, 8/28—Sub-Saharan Africa Map Quiz </p><p>Atlas Check—BRING YOUR ATLAS TO CLASS WITH THE FOLLOWING (in the correct order and your maps must be completed): THE ATLAS CHECK WILL COUNT AS A MINOR GRADE  Atlas table of contents and directions for quality maps  Map Directions for Sub-Saharan Africa  Physical Map of Sub-Saharan Africa  Political Map of Sub-Saharan Africa</p><p>Monday: 8/17 Reading/Homework Due: </p><p> Unit 1 Exam—make sure to refer to study techniques mentioned in Study Smarter, Not Harder (ie. mental mapping) as you prepare for the exam</p><p>Tuesday: 8/18 Reading/Homework Due: </p><p> Test Review and Atlas Introduction  Reading—read the Physical Geography of Sub-Saharan Africa notes carefully. DO annotate the notes, and start the learning the vocabulary terms in the reading. If you didn’t pick up the notes or the vocab list in class, I have posted them on the blog! </p><p>Wednesday: 8/19 Reading/Homework Due: </p><p> Class Activity—Map Work: Sub-Saharan Africa. Use your time wisely, and you will minimize the map work you have to do at home.  Homework—Start learning the map ASAP! I have posted the map directions and copies of both maps on the blog. Try using blank copies of the maps for review purposes. Try using the study techniques we discussed in class. Remember—spelling DOES matter (every 5 items misspelled on the map quiz counts as a wrong answer).</p><p>Thursday: 8/20 Reading/Homework Due: </p><p> Continue discussion of African geography and map work. Friday: 8/21  Reading/Homework Due: See instructions below— watch video and read the article from my blog. Be sure to answer the guiding questions as you read and watch. </p><p> To prepare for class on Friday I would like for you to complete the following: . Download the “archaeology” reading posted on the blog and read it . Watch the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vicu4oji4c  To answer this question you will go on an archaeological dig—well not really—but you will participate in an archaeological dig simulation…Make sure you come away from the web sites with an understanding of the following terms and concepts . archaeology, site, artifact, evidence . What are some important methods used by archaeologists to date artifacts? . Why is archaeology a destructive process and why does that matter? </p><p>*** This schedule is subject to change. ***</p>
