<p> UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN & THE WESTERN CAPE GOVERNMENT</p><p>HEAD OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND FERTILITY REGULATION IN THE REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE UNIT DEPARTMENT OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES</p><p>The University of Cape Town and the Department of Health of the Western Cape Government invite applications for the above five-year contract post in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Groote Schuur Hospital. </p><p>The successful person:  Will be expected to provide leadership in the areas of research, teaching, training and service in Reproductive Health and Fertility Regulation taking into account the principles of primary health care, which is the lead theme of the Faculty of Health Sciences.  Will be expected to interact with the relevant health services programmes of the Department of Health (DOH) of the Provincial Government of the Western Cape and the National DOH and contribute to the formulation of evidence-based policies and programmes at local, provincial and national level.  Should have clinical and research experience in Reproductive Health and Fertility Regulation and a deep understanding of its relevance to the health of women in South Africa and beyond. Shall have insight into the challenges and opportunities for advancing health care in South Africa and Africa.  Should be committed to the Primary Health Care philosophy and have an outcomes based approach to the services provided.  Will be expected to contribute to staff recruitment and development and contribute to leadership with regard to issues of diversity, transformation and equity.  Will be expected to participate in managing staff, resources and performance of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  Will be expected to actively participate in clinical service, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, and research.  Sub-specialisation in Reproductive Medicine will be an advantage and the candidate should be someone who is either well recognised in the discipline or emerging as such.
