A cliché 2. is what we all say 3. when we’re too lazy 4. to find another way</p><p>5. and so we say</p><p>6. warm as toast, 7. quiet as a mouse, 8. slow as molasses, 9. quick as a wink.</p><p>10. Think, 11. Is toast the warmest thing you know? 12. Think again, it might not be so. 13. Think again: it might even be snow! 14. Soft as lamb’s wool, fleecy snow, 15. a lacy shawl of new-fallen snow.</p><p>16. Listen to that mouse go 17. scuttling and clawing, 18. nibbling and pawing. 19. A mouse can speak 20. if only a squeak.</p><p>21. Is a mouse the quietest thing you know? 22. Think again, it might not be so. 23. Think again: it might be a shadow. 24. Quiet as a shadow, 25. quiet as growing grass, 26. quiet as a pillow, 27. or a looking glass 28. Slow as molasses, 29. quick as a wink. 30. Before you say so, 31. take time to think.</p>
