<p> HERO OF THE YEAR If the BIG Greek heroes campaigned against one another, who would win? Who would be seen as the ultimate hero? Who would you support?</p><p>Task:</p><p> Create a campaign to support and promote one of the following Greek heroes: o Perseus o Orpheus o Aeneas o Theseus o Bellerophon o Cadmus o Hercules o Ajax o Atalanta (a o Achilles o Hector woman!) o Jason o Paris Present the campaign to the class in order to get your classmates to vote for your hero! To prepare: Read the myth(s) about your chosen hero and research any supplemental background information you feel you need Take notes about the major points Determine the characteristics and accomplishments your group will focus on to promote your candidate Requirements: Write an objective summary of the story of your candidate (this should not exceed 500 words). Create a slogan for your hero’s “campaign” to be clearly displayed on the poster and used in the presentation. Create short gaffes (i.e. “I killed _____!” “I conquered ______!”) to be used in the campaign – evidence that your hero’s accomplishments are the best – what have they done to win the vote? Create a campaign poster o At least 11x14 in size o Must include an illustration or picture of your hero (however your picture him/her) o You may draw, design on a computer, or use collage to create your campaign poster Create a campaign Prezi/video to be used in your short presentation to the class – this should highlight your hero’s story and the major points to consider when “voting”. Grading You will be graded on the criteria listed above broken down into these categories: Written objective summary is accurate, concise and adherent the rules for Standard English Usage Campaign poster contains necessary elements (slogan, gaffes, image) and is neat and school appropriate Campaign Prezi/video highlights the major points of the “campaign” and briefly tells your hero’s story; Prezi/video also contains slogan, gaffes, and images; Prezi/video is neat and school appropriate Presentation is brief, organized and shows preparation Group evaluations Ample time will be given in class to work on this project. However, I urge your group to use GoogleDrive to organize and prepare this project. This should help in arranging times to work on outside of school as needed. This will also aid in presentation, as you can access your project easily and share with me. We will be campaigning on ______. </p>
