AP Government Current Event Journal

AP Government Current Event Journal

AP Government Current Event Journal

This project is due FRIDAY MAY 9th (REMEMBER THE AP EXAM IS MAY 5th)

This is an ongoing project that should be worked on during each of this class even though it is not due until May.

For each unit (1-6) you are to find 2 current event articles form major news sources (Time, Newsweek, CNN.com, ABCNews.com, Washington Post, etc.) about a topic or topics discussed in that unit. Each article must be about a different topic. For each article you will do the following:

 Please type  Label your journal entry Unit 1, Unit 2, etc…  Record the source, date, title of your article  Write a summary paragraph of the article or news story  Briefly explain how the article relates to this unit  Write your own AP style Free Response question that uses information form the unit and your article  Answer your Free Response question  Attach the article to your journal

Example: the first two articles in your journal should be about federalism, the Constitution, or a similar topic.

When finished, you will have 12 different articles and 12 journals (two form each unit) in this project. The journal should be in a report cover or appropriate folder.

Your current event journal is worth 120 points, and will be the major grade of the fourth marking period, so do a good job! Use the best articles you can find, not just the one that has the world “Constitution” in it. Only use articles relevant to this class. This may require plenty of time and effort on your part.

If you have ANY questions about the relevance of a particular article or story, please see me! Good luck!
