Snyder TTH 211-Basic Bible Doctrines 2 Study #8 Semester-Spring 2010 Phone #244-8153</p><p>COURSE DESCRIPTION: A survey of the basic Biblical teaching regarding salvation, the church, and the second coming.</p><p>COURSE OBJECTIVES: The student who successfully completes this course should be able: 1. to appreciate the beauty, value, and nature of Bible-based theology as an intellectual discipline. 2. to be familiar with and understand a variety of theological terms, concepts, expressions, and ideas. 3. to be aware of the major Biblical passages used to support various theological positions on major issues. 4. to understand the nature of some major theological debates and begin formulating one’s own views and positions concerning these issues and debates. 5. to understand a variety of theological positions and developments in Christian heritage. 6. to articulate a statement of faith with reference to the Bible’s teaching about the nature of sin, salvation, the church, the sacraments, ministry, and last things.</p><p>COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Textbook Cottrell, Jack. The Faith Once For All. Joplin, MO: College Press, 2003.</p><p>Assignments 1. Read the assigned parts of The Faith Once For All and answer the study questions. Type out the question in bold print and then type the answer in regular print. These answers need not be lengthy but should be answered adequately. Chapters 16-26 are due on March 3, 2010 and chapters 27-33 are due on April 9, 2010. NOTE: These assignments must be done in their entirety. Partial work will receive the grade of 0%. BOTH ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO PASS THE CLASS Failure to follow the instructions for these assignments will result in a 20% grade reduction Examinations There will be three examinations given in this course. Each exam will cover one of the three sections of material covered and will be given at the completion of each section. The date of each exam will be announced throughout the semester and ample time for study will be given. If you cannot be here on the announced date of a test you must make arrangements with the professor BEFORE the date of the test in order to make arrangements to take the test at another time. Otherwise, if you are not here on the day of the test you will receive the grade of 0% for the test. Late Policy No late work will be accepted.</p><p>Attendance Policy Over SIX absences will result in the failure of the course. If you miss class more than SIX times you will receive an FA (Failure due to absences).
