<p> Item NAI-19 Attachment</p><p>Northeast Region</p><p>Report to the Board of Directors National Society of Professional Engineers January 6, 2007</p><p>The Northeast Region held its annual meeting at Sarasota Springs, N Y October 19-21, 2006, and it was a resounding success. The conference offered Continuing Education opportunities, various business meetings, a Keynote address by Bernard R Berson, PE, LS, PP, F.NSPE, NSPE President-Elect and our Northeast Region business meeting. </p><p>Significant highlights include:</p><p>Continuing Education: Engineers attended seven sessions held over a period of two days. The total PDH, complying with New York State licensure requirements awarded, was roughly 600. A Continuing Education Roundtable addressed issues raised by New York State’s requirement that all CPC credits must be technical in nature. The criteria for the course material and how to get courses accepted by the NY state registration board was the topic discussed.</p><p>Partnering for success: Hanna Besanceny, NSPE, in charge of State and Chapter relations, facilitated an interactive session on her role in making the “state centric” concept a reality. Hanna has been assigned the job of acting as a resource for the states. The session involved questions, concerns and ideas, all handled well by Hanna</p><p>NSPE Northeast Region Business Meeting: NE Region Manager Jack Naylor, P.E. presided, and Secretary Tim McGough, PE, took notes as we met within the structure or our new NE Region bylaws. Reports were received from Bernard Berson, PE NSPE President-Elect, Barry Isett, PE, NE Region Director, and Brad Aldrich, PE, F.NSPE Chair Future Directions Implementation Task Force.</p><p>Election of Regional Officers · John Naylor, PE, the only candidate put forward by the screening committee for the NER Director · Tim, McGough, PE was the only candidate for Manager · Matthew R. Purcell, PE was the only candidate for Secretary · Harry Garman, PE was the only candidate for Candidate Selection Committee Representative </p><p>Other NER Region Business: The Pennsylvania Legislature has passed and the governor has signed enabling legislation for mandatory CPC. The Registration board will have up to 18 months to develop the regulation.
